Yeah, but there's a limit to how many poll options you can have (six); hence, I had to drop Antarctica and put North/South America, instead of two separate options.

I didn't vote in the poll. I live on the North Island of New Zealand. You could say we were part of Oceania if you believe that to be a continent (as some people seem to) but we're not part of Australia in any way shape or form.

Monkeypimp,
"we were part of Oceania if you believe that to be a continent"
I believe that since everything needs to be categorized
Oceania would be the best way to categorize the South Pacific region (Australia, New Zealand, and all the other island and states over there).
Since you wouldn´t call yourself an Asian - I assume - Oceania makes the most sense.
Regarding Antartica: it doesn´t have any permanent settlements. There are a view scientific stations over there. Very unlikely that one of the scientist is playing nation states.
Well: if there is one he/she can of course tell here at the forum.

Well I've always said that I'm not on a continent. If you do it by tectonic plates, New Zealand is on 2 anyhow so we're just a group of islands.

errr no we are part of Oceania, its whether or not people think its a continent. Some get taught it is, some don't. In New Zealand, they don't teach that.

Ireland, Europe.
What always confused me is the way many people insist on acknowledging only 5 continents (normally lumping north and south america together and ignoring antartica)
Even today, the olympic symbol of 5 interlocking circles is supposed to represent the 5 continents...
BelFierste
22-06-2004, 14:36
I heard it is also meant to represent the five points of venuses trail across the sky which takes 4 years to be complete - hence the olympics being every four years.

so far you are. However they are six people claiming coming from Asia. Thus far only you have made a post.
I have been to Hongkong once. Very big city and very crowded. Kowloon is the area with the highest population per km² in the world.
I think East, Sout-east and south Asia and especially China are remaining the regions of the world with the highest economic growth rates.
China is going to play a leading role in Asia and in the world of the 21rst century. 8) 8)
