I loved it. So funny. The acting got a little soap opera-y at points, but if you appreciate a good christian joke, you'll love the movie.

It just so happens that my wife & I love Daria - we watch her whenever we get a chance. Maybe I was subliminally influenced...

Not at all - it would appeal to any open-minded person whether or not they were religious.

It very much felt like a 'first feature film' with a lot of first misteps, and I felt that the ending was a little bit of a wuss out, but thats because I was going in expecting a 'teenage monster movie where the monsters are the christian kids,' something I had heard in a review somewhere. Ultimately the ending was about as much as you could expect, though I was reminded of the Australian film The Devil's Playground. It's the same sentiment, though clearly not as funny.

Overall, it was alright. Certainly funny if you've been the 'heretic' in a religous school as I have been.

Really depends on how much of a sense of humour you have about yourself, as I feel this movie is making fun of you pretty soundly.

so was the film anti-christian or just anti-popular girls? It was neither. It was anti-zealotry if it was anti anything.

Likely you'll read that as anti-christian.

Just being pissy. I actually thought it was a bit much after I posted, but the server chunked up and I didn't have the patience to fix it. Sorry.

That movie answered all of my questions about why Christian school girls are pregnant...

They screw their boyfriends to cure them of homosexuality because Jesus told them when they were drowning in a swimming pool! Why couldn't I see before? :P

I saw it and liked it very much because it showed how any kind of religious extremism, no matter how innocuous it seems, is just a self-righteous guise for often deeply disturbed and dangerous individuals.

In other news, I saw Fahrenheit 9/11 tonight. It was awesome.

I liked it a lot--wrote a review of it on my blog. (http://incertus.blogpsot.com)

CTOAN is exactly right when he notes that it's anti-zealot, not anti-Christian. The end is a little weak and sappy, but the final moment (spoiler alert) where Pastor Skip gets out of his car with the flowers and is arguing with himself seemed the perfect note to close on--this man who embodies the absolute knowledge of right and wrong is completely uncertain and has no clue what to do. I'm also very glad that the film ends before Pastor Skip makes up his mind. It's a form of anti-closure that the film needed.
