Yo Ben,
Serious question here, tell me why in 2 sentences Americans believe they won World War 2?

Also I'm doing some research into propoganda in American schools, especially in what History they selectively choose to teach at Government level, any ideas you could put forward?

While I'm the first to get annoyed with the "we won it singlehandedly" crap that some spread, give them their due too.

They, unlike anyone else, fought that war in a big way on two fronts. They took out the Japanese empire with very little help from anyone, and were instrumental in providing the resources needed to open up a western front while the Russians came in from the East.

Do they often act like they took out the Germans singlehandedly? Yeah, and that is BS. But don't denigrate them for what they did too either.

The only thing I DO hold against them is their refusal to join for a couple of years. That was a rediculous case of putting one's head in the sand. The opposite extreme to today's adventurism.

The Russians invaded Manchuria and were a great asset in winning the Japanese War.

Correct me if I am wrong (l know little about the WWII Eastern Theatre), but didn't the Russians only do that after the US had severly weakened the Japanese?
