They didn't think out the Maginot line too well though. They left Belgium right open. Not the best military planners, but good culture and advancements to the world.

ok, about the maginot line. it was in fact very well thought out, and could have stalled the germans long enough for WW2 to turn into another trench war like WW1. but sadly, the french left it underfunded, and under staffed.

The USA was prepared to let the German forces invade, occupy and accept the armistice of the French nation until it was dragged into the war by the attack at Pearl Harbour nearly 18 months later. Where was the US when France needed them? They were trying to sit out the war and maintain their non-interventionist policy.

In reality, if you think about, a small portion of the American population is actually from the British Isles. We've got people from all over the world. That's part of the reason that America is so great, not to knock any one else down or anything...
