So, if you are like me, then you are appaled by these horrid MTV icons known as "Metallica". But, were they always uptight, greedy, untalented, constipated losers? I think not. Has anyone evr listened to their 1988? album "Master of Puppets"? That is one fo the greatest albums i have ever listened to. It';s jsut so sad that they coem out with this garbage, like "St. Anger" and "Frantic"? What happened to the good ol songs like "Master of Puppets" and "One"? What happened to them? Tehy used to be "the" metal band, who toured in stolen U-hauls, and took on society. Now, tehy go no place without the MTV cameras on their trail. They even went nuts over the fact that their fans used napster to download their songs. I am only twenty, but i can still remember "Master of Puppets" and "Ride the lightening". Now they come out with horrid garbage like "The Black Album" and "St.Anger". Does anyone else remember the old metallica?

To be honest Metallica have used the same three riffs over and over again. Metallica have sucked for a while because they have no variety or originality!

You can't possibly "remember" those older Metallica albums if you're only 20. You were born about the same time Ride The Lightning was released!

However, I do remember the old Metallica, and the black album was a hell of a disappointment when it was released. It was a total shit sandwich.

Yes. They were always awful. I can't listen to Metallica without remembering all the guys in high school who listened to them. They always wore the scuzziest jeans and heavy metal t-shirts, and sported mullets. Usually they had hygiene issues too.

The music wasn't ever much good either.

The black album was oooohkay, with a few good songs.

Anything before was good, and anything after it sucked.

What metallica does is copy the popular genre of the time in order to sell more. Garage Inc. was grunge, St. Anger, Nu-Metal. What will be next? Hip-hop?

in truth they suck now the original metallica was awesome and earnt them there reputation, i know in most eyes the black album sucked but you have to consider it was needed for them to survive no band has ever lasted that long without achanging there sound someway, its impossible to release aslbum after album identical to puppets as eventually everyone gets bored of the same.

True I guess, But the first Metallica album I heard was the Black album, and I wasn't really enthused...when I heard their earlier stuff, I liked them a lot more. I'm sure they could have evolved in a better way. I mean...How many albums did Led Zep and Pink Floyd put out while maintaining a decent sound...(in my opinion...whether you like or hate these bands is irrelevant)
