A likely scenario:
China and India make up approximately 1/3 of the worlds population.
Both countries are selecting for male majority populations, by default, for cultural reasons. (The reasons make sense on an individual scale.)
In a fairly short time the balance of male to female population will be tilted far enough to cause major disruptive events (ie wars over females).

Wars over females are not as likely, because as the two countries have increasingly educated populaces, they'll see a need at reducing their populations. Besides, if they develope like the West in the 20th century, women will take a while to equal the status of men. Therefore, men can hold their own, and women will find an overabundance of men, should they need them for support.

PE is right. War over females? What I think you meant to say is having a war to reduce the male count.

However, I don't think you will see that kind of war due to economics. Both countries want to build up and the fastest way for corporations to leave is a major conflict.

Also, if there is a shortage of women, they will probably go abroad. Especially, if they are educated. Not everybody is hard core in that they can only marry Chinese or Indian.....
