England fans!

I presume some of you are English and following the footie... Is it just me or should Heskey never be allowed to play for his country again after that hideous tackle against the French on Sunday?
Firstly international football needs far more skill than power, unlike club football. Secondly, he is a clumsy oaf! He's made far too many mistakes now in my opinion!

A country that needed a 14 year old girl too drive out the English. Or the oppresive English pigs for ever stepping foot in Ireland. I think both countrys should be banned from doing anything other than apologizing for existing.

England should be kicked out of European football for the safety of others and their property, until their fans can behave themselves.

I accept that its not the team's fault, but England cause trouble wherever they go, its not fair on the locals and the police who have to deal with it. The England fans are a disgrace. The FA and Home Office have pulled out all the stops to try and stop hooliganism, and still it goes on.

Did anyone else see England fans rioting in towns around the country after watching England vs. France? A very, very sad reflection on English society that after watching a football match on television drunken England football fans started attacking innocent policemen and people's businesses.

I didn't see the rioting--I assume it happened in England--but there have been tons of reports from Lisbon where there were no riots, mainly because the police let it be known that they wouldn't harass anyone who was smoking weed. Why? Because when you're high, you don't want to fight. Brilliant move, sez me.

Only one arrest if the Metro is correct (in Portugal, concerning English fans). A good statistic. Interesting to note that Britain is instituting a policy that some right-wingers advocate for asylum seekers and immigrants. #Which they should all be kept on an island somewhere (of course the islands aren't the same).

But concerning the match. Did anyone else think it is so typically English to be winning during the whole match and the lose during injury time?

Personnally I think English police were dum when they stopped all the hooligans flying out. Now they're fighting here!!! Better there than here in my opinion!

And now... back to the actual match... and Heskey...

LISBON, Portugal – Police fought with about 400 soccer fans in a five-hour street battle that resulted in the arrests of 14 people, most from England.

One police officer was slightly injured in the violence Monday night in southern Portugal, police said Tuesday.

Ten fans – seven Englishmen, one Irishman, one Scot and one Portuguese – needed assistance at a medical center, the statement said.

Police dispersed the fans and cordoned off several streets, with the unrest ending at dawn. The 12 detained English fans were to appear in court, but the hearing was postponed until Wednesday.

Police said from national headquarters in Lisbon that the fans, most of them English, first clashed with police in two bars in Albufeira, a coastal vacation resort about 120 south of Lisbon. Police were "provoked and assaulted" by the fans, the statement said.

The confrontation spilled into nearby streets when fans threw glasses, bottles and bar chairs at police.

"Faced with this scenario of growing violence and destruction, an intervention became necessary by the riot police, mounted police and police dogs," the statement said.

Of course, because no other countries fans ever get involved in hooliganism do they....

Anyways, about the match, i dont think Heskey should even have been picked for the squad. He has no skill or tact, and for all his size and strength, he still goes over like a girl from the slightest touch. Someone remind me, what exactly is it hes supposed to be offering the English team? :?

I think the idea is that Erikson said Owen wasn't having a good game and Heskey "could offer more power". Power my ass! :x

I'd like to see no more of this diamond formation rubbish so the midfield can get forward and supply Owen and Rooney with some more balls. Owen never does anything unless he's got a good ball he can run on to!

Speaking of Heskey...
Not an England fan, but I despise that f*ckwad ever since he subbed in against Romania in 2000 and did absolutely nothing (except miss an open goal). But getting kicked off the team alone is no fun, so I hope he takes the Metrosexual with him.

FANS HELD AFTER FRESH CLASHES

A second night of clashes between England football fans and local police in the Algarve in Portugal has ended with dozens more arrests.
Portuguese police said 32 fans had been arrested overnight, in addition to the 12 held on Monday night.

Mounted officers and riot police clashed with around 250 bottle-throwing supporters in Albufeira - the scene of similar ugly scenes the previous night.

Uefa has previously warned England that hooliganism could see them expelled.

It's long past time that the English supporters started taking this seriously. They are the only ones with the inside knowledge, and collective ability, to identify and kick out the tiny groups of pea-brained, NF yahoos that spark off all the trouble. Much more of this and I wouldn't be surprised if England do get kicked out. Other countries have problems with their fans too but with England it seems to be endemic.

England's fans' reputation precedes them, right enough, and it's a reputation they unquestionably deserve. OK, at the 2002 world cup they managed to behave themselves (with a bit of minor rioting back in the UK when you got knocked out) -- but when England play in Europe it's a racing certainty that their fans will cause trouble. Or rather, that a tiny minority of their fans will start trouble, and that all too often a sizeable chunk of the rest of them will feel obliged to join in. The usual bleats of "they started it!" or "we was provoked!" will ring out but the blame, and the responsibility, lies with the bulk of England supporters who tolerate the presence of violent, racist cretins in their midst. Did you see the little knot of them seig-heiling during the France game? Get rid of these pricks. Kick them off your buses and out of your hotels. When they start hooting racist abuse, don't just sit there in embarrassed silence -- chin the bastards. You'll be surprised at how easy and pleasant it becomes once they are gone.

I agree that there are definately some incredibly dense, utterely egotistical english people that do in actual fact seem to define the word 'Twat'... however, it's not fair to take the actions of those Stupid few and say that it's ALL of us!! It is because of their complete disregard for common sense and their lack of pride that let the Whole country down! Also, like I said, it's only a few people, and it's not as if we're not 'trying' to prevent it..I mean, we're don't 'want' them to make arses of themselves; 'Are you going to watch the england match? True enough, my apologies :) . I hereby terminate my comments on England's fans' behavior etc.

I think Heskey has plenty of stamina and determination, but not much of a footballing brain. He just gallops around in a gormless manner to no great effect. That said, it's not like England have a plethora of great footballers to call on: you're probably as good with him as without him.

Beckham's penalty was well saved, not badly taken, and his free kick was well hit (although it was one of the softest awards I've seen; Beckham should try to stay on his feet more, the big girl's blouse). Rooney played well, and didn't bite anyone. The biggest disappointment in the England side (from an English PoV) was Owen, who barely even turned up.

Yeah I know, he was more or less non-existent through-out the whole game! Well like I've said, everyone is entitled to a bit of bad luck, it's not Beckham's fault the goalie went the right way. I think Hesky just needs to learn to not be so aggresive.. you can still tackle people without attempting to break a limb.

1st) Beckham's penalty wasn't bad - but as a general idea you hit it high, or low - not exactly at the keeper's level! But Ok- that wasn't really his fault

Moving on...
2nd) Owen - will people stop going on about how he didn't do anything, we've all seen the switzerland game now - his setting up of Rooney's first was amazing! When he gets good balls in from the midfield like that he can do anything!
Against France the midfield wasn't functioning as a team well at all. They let too much through for the defence to do and our only attempt at attack was an occansional cross or Rooney going on a run for about five seconds before his pass was intercepted - Owen is a great player - when he has a great midfield!!!
