My nephew was almost expelled from school. My sister had to appeal to the Board of Education to keep him in. They agreed, and all's well that ends well...but that's not what frustrates me.
What frustrates me is the reason for his near expulsion. Now keep in mind, that other than a few typical punishments that all mischievous children suffer, he has not been severely reprimanded. There was the underwear incident, but I didn't come to talk about that. Hehehe. My sister still blames me for putting THAT idea in his head.
ANyhoo... do you know why he nearly got expelled? For starting a food fight. YES! A food fight! :o Personally, I think schools are taking these zero-tolerance policies WAAAAY too far! They actually called the police about it! About a frickin' food fight!! It sickens me. An eleven year old kid should not have to question the legalities and criminal ramifications of throwing a slice of pizza at the kid at the next table.
*sigh* I think it's a good thing I'm not in school now. Some of the mayhem I caused... I'd probably be doing time! :?

Most of my day was spent either wrestling(my only high school sport), reading(I read omniverously) or plotting.I've been having some fun with a fellow criminal mastermind... we faked a couple of school letters with a scanner and a photocopier, sent out a newsletter than said that the demolition of the new buildings they'd just spent the last two years putting up was sheduled for July 16th. Put about a dozen copies of the letters in each register bag.
Amazingly, they went round all the classes to stop them from being sent out. Like people actually wouldn't guess that a letter saying the school was going to be demolished wasn't for real

The hard part is finding someone who can climb it. Once you have that, the rest is easy. One of those tree-climbing straps helps because it allows the climber to free up one or both hands once he's up there.

I got in trouble for doing a lot of stuff this past year...
First, it was because of the announcements. At our school, kids in a certain class (exploring multimedia...what bullsh%t) get over the PA system and read off a rote list of everyday occurences. No one listens to it, so I decided to make them listen...
"There's a swim meet today. If seeing people thrash around in water like they're auditioning for a bit part in Jaws floats your boat, come watch!"
"Baseball tryouts are after school today. Come by and try to protect yourself against speeding projectiles using only a stick, courage, and tight striped pants."
"If you like shooting up legally, rocketry club is just for you! Come by "Mr. Shatner's" room for a few quick excursions into getting high!"
"There's a girl's soccer game after school today. Come watch girls play with balls that aren't yours! MMMmmm..."
Yeah, principal's office for that one. Then there was the time when I put a walky talky under our bus drivers dash, hid the other one in my pocket, sat in the back of the bus, and said "If the bus drops under sixty, your head a-splode!" Yep, I was under close surveillance for that "Terroist Threat" for a while now.
Ahhh... I had fun in school.

One time, in high school, three teachers snuck into the main office during a lunch period and played a bit of classical music followed by a few chimes and, "Medication time, children. Medication time."
These were TEACHERS!!!

The funnest thing to do with a flag pole is to string a dummy up from it.
My friends and I stole a mannequin from a store once, brought some rope from home, and had a mannequin-lynching round the flag pole. The janitor was sick the next day, and we had to wait for a week before it could be brought down
good times

Basically, it's when two or more kids grab a victim, pick him up and ram him spreadeagle into a flagpole(goalpost, etc) crotch first. Usually several times.

Poleracking, like hazing, is one of those activities that can be fun and funny but is way too easy to take too far.
I remember there was this twerpy smartmouth who was mouthing off to the wrong people. One needs to know who NOT to piss off in school. ANyhoo... I was invited to assist in carrying him outside and poleracking him during phys ed. Me, being the sympathetic sort that I was, took the initiative and wrestled him into a toilet stall and proceeded to ducttape him naked to a toilet. Thus, he never got poleracked, and everyone was satisfied. :D

Did you take any pleasure in ducttaping a naked kid to a toilet? Seems slightly wrong to me.
While I think that expelling a student for starting a food fight is too severe(in my school "expulsion" is any suspension over 10 days long), I think he should maybe get a 2 or 3 day suspension.
I personally would have him clean up all the mess himself, rather than leave it to the janitors.
Ive enjoyed food fights between certain tables before, which have all been friends and so chucking food at a friend is OK, but I dont think that nailing a kid you don't know with food(especially something like pizza or sauce, kethup, etc.) is cool.

You'll never hear me claim that such activities are 'right'. Or even justified. Matter of fact, I was caught and punished. I took my punishment without a complaint.
But yes, it was pretty fun. :D
Back then, I had the opposite approach to mischief. Nowadays, I seek out like-minded people with a good sense of humor about such things. Back then, my targets were exactly the opposite. I targeted those that took themselves too seriously. One reason, I suppose, why I was never called a 'bully' was that I was as likely to prank jocks, seniors and those larger than myself as I was freshmen. In fact, bullies were a favorite target of mine, because they could rarely 'take' what they 'dish out'. In fact, I often got beaten up afterward for it.
Yeah... I know what you mean LG.
This guy I know and I'm really close to, he was after school one day, a few hours after school was over.
He was in the parking lot, messin around with some friend. He had a dart gun (the little nerf ones with the styrofoam suction cup darts, totally harmless) and his friend was in his car, and he shot one of the darts onto his window.
Well, the vice principal was there.
He was almost expelled, but they decided his punishment (for playing with a nerf gun in the empty parking lot after school) would be 10 days expulsion, he wasn't allowed to go to his prom (he was a senior), he wasn't allowed to walk with his class at graduation, he wasn't allowed to go to NYC with his class on the class trip, and he was only allowed to go to school from 11-1 every day, meaning he had to take a fail grade in all the classes he would have to miss every day. Luckily, he had the minimum just to graduate.
This was absolutely rediculous to all of us.
Really says something about the school system...

I agree!! What the hell is with this Zero tolerance?! Its getting so strict especially in catholic schools, they try to end all individualism entirely...and those prayers, day in day out, im beginning to think its more like brainwash to love god, i know them by heart. Here, the teachers are so harsh, they hate their lives and they dish out on specific students over and over...ah well, by the way we are going to beat you for posting this about Zero Tolerance, that wont be tolerated

i dont care much for the public school system at all, designed only to take time out of the kids day, first there are hours of shcool, then hours of homework.
homeschooling is the way to go, the parents can give discipline as they see fit, and nobody can be expelled per se.
Wow.. I almost forgot this one.
At my school this year, the AP Virgil class teacher made a bet with the students.
If at least four people in the class got gold medals on the national latin exam (or something), they would tie this really tiny kid who talks all the time to the school flagpole.
Sure enough, the kids won the bet, and Patrick was tied to the flagpole for the period... until another teacher came and let him go.
This is what you get when you don't go to a public school... haha

immaturity breeds being assholes. (sorry m-ds.. couldn't think of a better fitting term)
thats as simple as it gets.
the more immature, the dumber and more rude/assish they are.
