Anarchism: Myths Busted

After creating a thread asking why people weren't anarchist, the same myths came up each time. So now I will show you the truth.

Myth: Anarchism opposes organization.

Fact: That is false. Anarchism is opposed to hierarchial organization, where some people have power over others.

Myth: Anarchism is chaos.

Fact: Anarchism is organization without hierarchy. An-archy means "no rulers". No where does it say "do what ever you want" or "chaos". Somalia is not anarchism.

Myth: Anarchism violates human nature

Fact: If people are inherently bad, then government and capitalism are bad ideas because people will abuse power in terrible ways if given that kind of power.

I think some anarchists might disagree on your argument there. I refer, once more, to the open source community. It's anarchistic but works even if people are inherently bad, because what's good for you is good for the community (if you do something bad for the community, they'll make sure it's bad for you). If you make a society where whatever's good for it is good for you too, it doesn't matter whether you're inherently good or bad.
