I was watching a contorversial telivison show on the ABC tonight called Media Watch. The show basically highlights mistakes made the previous week by the media, politician and the Courts.
On astounding stroy they covered was of the Cheif Jusitice of the Australian Supreme Court who set a dangerous tone when personal injuriy cases were ordered to be judged based upon cases which did not ecxist.
His Honour had apparently been tipped to a webstie known as the Stella Awards that covered supposedly inane lawsuits in America. Based on what he considered to be a dangerous trend emergin in America, as seen on the site, Justices were warned against allowing the trend to gain ground in Australia.
However, it has been revealed via the investigation of a team of American Attornies and reveiwed by the Queensland Law Society, the results indicating that no such cases excisted.
In repsonse the Cheif Justice simply stated "I had no idea...", One would sincerely hope he does not make Court Room rulings as wrecklessly.
