TOKYO, Japan (AP) -- The decomposed body of a man dressed in pajamas was discovered in an abandoned Tokyo apartment building 20 years after he is believed to have died, police said Thursday.

I think this is really quite eerie. I mean, the skeleton was there, and the newspaper and stuff, when I was starting high school. I know that countless people have always died unknown, but in one of the most advanced industrial societies on Earth, it takes on a surreal quality because it is so unusual, from our cultural frame of reference.

Wow, thats amazing that a building would stand for 30 years and no one would even go into it to look around.
Especially in Tokyo one one the most densely populated cities on earth. I am not sure which is more surprising, that the building was undidturbed for 20+ years or that the man was the sole resident for the past 20+.
Do they have an April Fool's day in Japan?
