Gosh, only 13 days from its premeire and relatively calm waters concerning this documentary - has The Passion just desensitized us to contraversial films now?
No, the passion was propaganda for the catholic church to gain more members because so many people have left after the whole child abuse thing.
I plan on seeing Farenheit 9/11 though.

Or perhaps people are simply getting fed up with Moore?

Yeah that right. The Catholic Church wants converts for an ultra-conservative Catholic sect that don't believe the modern Papacy is legitimate

Hey BLARG, BfC is a great film and the Marilyn Manson interview is good and funny and the interview with the head of NRA is good and moving but apparently it is not so good as Moore films go and Roger&Me which was filmed on the downsizing commited by the car company General Motors after a year of huge profits for them and how it crippled Moore's hometown of Flint is a lot better. Also apparently Farenheit 9/11 is excellent as I have read in all reviews except in ones for Conservative newspapers by folks who had never even seen the film, by James Christopher for The Times but he has an allergic reaction to hype and since he was in Cannes when he wrote the review... Also the Catholic newspaper The Universe gave it a one but they are a bunch of right wing pricks who once had a review of Philip Pullman's excellent His Dark Materials trilogy that said it was "Good for nothing but burning" and clash with Moore on pretty much all of his opinions so them saying it is an awful film is as good a commendation as any.

As for Moore,
Just so you know....Farenheit 9/11 won the highest honors at the Cannes Film Festival.

It won in Cannes for the same reason Carter got the Nobel Prize. More foreigners looking to stick it to Bush in any minor and meaningless way they can in order to gratify themselves.

I think the lack of hype for Farenhiet 9/11 is a matter of timing. A political film in a Presidential election year, when one can't open ones eyes without seeing someones opinion or a speech or appearance by one candidate or another wouldn't have seemed like such a good idea to me. It is kind of asking people to go pay $10, listen to someone talk troughout the movie for the same things that people can see at home. They should have released it sooner.

A few things.
How long does it take to procure some of the material on the film (any documentary for that matter), especially when mainstream press won't go far with it?
Here's another.
Liberal press = ONE WHOLE WEEK OF REAGAN'S FUNERAL. ;)
And another,
on the Cannes panel there were Quentin Tarantino, Kathleen Turner and
WHOM else that was American?
Maybe all coincidences.
Maybe none.

He won because it was the best made film. There is more to judging a film than what its about.

Maybe none.I stand corrected on my statement that the jury was dominated by Americans. Three of the eight (http://fr.movies.yahoo.com/cannes/jury/) were Americans. There was also one French person, one Belgian, one Vietnamese, one Scot, and one Finn.
Thanks for pointing out--yet again--the myth of the liberal media as concerns both this movie and the week-long Reagan fellatio-analingus party.

I didn't see The Passion of the Christ as a shocking or contraversial movie, I saw it as a poorly made, shitty movie, with bad actors. I hated the book too.

Canadian Bacon is Moore's only decent work. The problem is that he makes these other movies and tries to pan them off as documentaries when they are just a load of fiction. If he could just admit he's doing a fiction movie, he might have more success. I'm as radical-religious-right as they come, but got a kick out Canadian Bacon.
