ROUND 4 BRACKET 1 (The Land of the Past)

NOTE: Please do not complain about how the brackets are all messed up and that you can't compare those two bands because they aren't from the same genre.

Okay here's how the voting goes. Since the polls can easily be manipulated this is the voting system we will use:

If you post your vote with a nation of 75 posts or more, that vote counts as two. The poll votes count as 1. Technically your vote can be counted as three votes, if you vote both in the poll and post what you voted for.

Also, I'd like arguements from both sides on why that particular band (in this case, Elvis Costello and the Attractions or Dead Kennedys) should win. So please feel free to post long paragraphs regarding the merits of either Elvis Costello and the Attractions or Dead Kennedys.

This is so unfair. Elvis Costello had work that could blow the Dead Kennedys out of the water, but he's just one man...GAH!

I'm picking the Dead Kennedys, but in my heart, I know that once again I'm relegating one of the best artists of the late 20th century, like he always has been. Maybe it's because he's going by the name Elvis. The real Elvis was lame, Elvis Costello is not. It was an ironic thing, lameness by association.

The Dead Kennedys are good.

Even before that he had a reputation of writing to punk bands around the world and saying:

Elvis is king. Costello is a genius songwriter with real talent and originality. While I love punk, there's nothing to mark DKs out from the run of the mill. They're definately not the best punk band (Clash, anyone?). To me they seem like just another Sex Pistols. But Costello had and has a sound different from anything before or since (which is pretty damn punk rock if you ask me).

To me they seem like just another Sex Pistols. Now I'm not a rock scholar, but I can recodnize DK's particular sound a mile away.The Sex Pistols? Are you fucking kidding me? The Sex Pistols were just a fucking boy band. DK had a messege. DK had a mission. And DK ROCKED.

Hah! Jello tries to be a Johnny Rotten but doesn't make the grade. The sound is quite characteristic I'll admit, but it just lacks the artistic originality of Elvis' stuff. I really like DK's but I cant bear to see such a true master be trampled.
