Has anyone heard of the band Skrewdriver? If you have what do you think is the best song by the band. I like Boots and Braces and Anti Social.

Yeah - the early stuff is good, the first LP ('All Skrewed Up') and a couple of singles taht followed it, but you do really not want to listen to the stuff that came after that, when they reinvented themselves as a nazi band and started spewing out racist claptrap.

Ahh, yes [claps hands in glee] Screwdriver, Oh remember them all to well. . .

As for the two songs, hard to choose. . .I suppose it would depend on my mood at the time. . .

Off the top of my head I would list "Where Is It Going To End?" as my favourite, if only for its glaringly obvious Dr. Feelgood influence, but the rest of that first LP has some other pretty good stuff on it too, all with more than a hint of rhythm & blues mixed into the punk/oi/street music strands.

Edit: their cover of "In The Ghetto" off one of their later ' we have traded out brains for swastikas' albums is hilarious, but for all the wrong reasons. A clear case of laughing at, rather than with the band.

I'll just add a note here explaining that the band were sometimes refered to as 'Baddriver' following Ian Stuart Donaldson's death in a car crash. Oh what a pity...

Good riddance really. It's not like they had any musical value whatsoever.

Indeed, the band when they reformed in 1982 and turned nazi (after releasing one innocuous and inoffensive 7") had only one original member - the infamous Mr. Stuart. Even if one ignores the lyrical content from that period on, the music is just plain bland.

They're white supremacists.

As has been pointed out previously, they did not start out as such, and when they did reform as a nazi band only one original member remained from the earlier line-up. The first LP and 7"ers recorded by the original band are in no way racist or nazi records.
