i was just wondering if everyone was as pissed at it as me.

I just wanted Emily Watson. :lol: J/K, I haven't seen it.

she didnt look as good in the movie as she did in that hbo preview they did. one more reason to hate it... :evil:

I am a big fan of the books. I didn't like the first two movies very much. The weren't as exciting as the books. Although the third movie is clearly not following the book exactly, i found that it was exciting even though it didn't follow the book. I liked it as a movie, but disliked it as a harry potter sequel.

hmm... i tried watching it from the perspective of a person who hasnt read the books and it didnt make much sense. even my friends who havent read the book says the same thing. you'd only understand what the hell it was about if you've read the book. otherwise it'll leave a lot of blank spots. even more than "chamber" which was the reason why i started reading the books in the first place.

The Canada and certain SA/A tribes thing is certain, Im not sure about Switzerland, but I think its true :P

I thought that it was pretty good but I did not like, one bit, the setting of the Castle, and particularly Hagrid's hut.

I'm pissed. It was supposed to be way better than the others, but it ended up sucking. My left nut could produce a better movie.

i liked the movie but felt that it was "rushed" in order to keep it down to a reasonable running time

why were you pissed at the end?

I was disappointed with the movie.

It was too fast, not detailed enough, and seemed to take an awful lot of liberties from the book.

The true answer is that in the United States, the legal age of consent varies from state to state. In some states it's 18, while in others it's lower, 16 or 17. And I think some states have rules that depend on the age of both parties, in other words, it's legal at 15 or 16, but only if both partners are within two years of the same age. For the US military, the legal age of consent is 16. So if US military members go to one of those countries someone was talking about and does a 15 year old, he's in trouble.

The movie sucked. The dialogue was too sensational, and the screenplay was raped. Hogwarts got too new of a setting, dementors aren't suppose to fly, and everything was very hard to follow, even though I've read the book. Also, Maggie Smith got a pitifully small role, and John Cleese seemed nonexistant in the film. I guess that's the quality one would expect from a director of porn films.

i actually really liked it.
it was a lot better than the first two movies.... i think it had to do with the change of director.
chris columbus didn't have as much feeling as the new director, alfonso cuaron (of Y Tu Mama Tambien, the little princess, etc).

it was a lot more mature, filmwise, than the first two.

i enjoyed it... i actually dressed up as madame hootch to see the first showing at the theater near my house.

well, the book is so dense, and it has so much material and action in it... it would be impossible to get everything into a decently sized movie (if it were too long, everyone would be griping about that), so they had to modify and only put the essentials in to make a good movie.

I guess that's the quality one would expect from a director of porn films.

how can you say that? i mean yeah the backdrop may be more accurate but other than that its all crap. cuaron made potter and malfoy look like pussies! and wtf was with that group hug?! my cousin was actually restraining me from screaming in anguish in the theater. that was prolly the worst film i ever saw. you wouldnt be able to follow it if you havent read the book.

well, the book is so dense, and it has so much material and action in it... it would be impossible to get everything into a decently sized movie (if it were too long, everyone would be griping about that), so they had to modify and only put the essentials in to make a good movie.

I wouldn't complain about the length if they included all the details....

The credits were interesting, though. They did a good job with the Map.

The books are progressively darker and the movies needed to evolve to reflect that.

And Purly, it's not fair to call Cuaron a porn director--Y Tu Mama Tambien was a beautiful movie that dealt with sexuality in a mature and adult way, but it certainly wasn't a children's movie. There's a world of difference between those two movies.
