i had the strangest thing happen the other day..
i came home at about 7pm mdt on the friday of memorial day weekend to find a letter from the IRS saying that i had F-ed my return and they were disallowing the deduction for my son
so i called them up KNOWING they woudlnt be there
after 10 minutes or so on hold, a woman answers, tells me that i put down his SSN wrong. so i figure shes gonna tellme what form i need to get to fix in
NO
SHE FIXED IT OVER THE PHONE
at 7 pm friday of a big holiday weekend
the irs made it EASY

im still astounded.

The IRS is nothing compared the Australian Tax Office, if you are over 14year and 9months you can work but don't have to pay taxes. But instead of just not charging these people taxes they deudct the tax and then offer them an opportunity to file for a 100% refund, assuming 14 year olds know how to fill out a tax return.

Remember you can ammend a tax return for up to 3 years back so you can get more money(just makes certain it is in your favor).
