ROUND 3 BRACKET 1 (Land of the Past)

Okay here's how the voting goes. Since the polls can easily be manipulated this is the voting system we will use:

If you post your vote with a nation of 75 posts or more, that vote counts as two. The poll votes count as 1. Technically your vote can be counted as three votes, if you vote both in the poll and post what you voted for.

However, even with this system in place this entire poll can be easily manipulated. So I ask you, please don't... Let's not cheat shall we?

Also, I'd like arguements from both sides on why that particular band (in this case, either Jimi Hendrix or The Doors) should win. So please feel free to post long paragraphs regarding the merits of either Jimi Hendrix or The Doors.

I voted for The Doors :wink:

But not a post vote... since frankly I haven't listened to either band that muhc... and I only really voted for The Doors was because I saw a film documentary about them once...

My vote goes to Jimi. I still don't really "get" The Doors. Their songs are okay, but they don't do much for me. Then again, I've only heard the stuff that gets played on the radio. Maybe there's better stuff on the albums, or maybe there's something else I'm missing. My impression is that their popularity is based more on the personality of Jim Morrisson than their music, but Doors fans are welcome to set me straight.

On the other hand, I've heard a lot of Jimi's stuff, and I've liked a lot of it. So as I said, my vote goes to him.

These two bands are a great choice to poll.

Its tough, but Im gonna have to go with Hendrix.
Hendrix never had Morrisons way with words, or his voice, but the was, and still is the best rock guitarist of all time.

Hendrix was a virtuoso with his instrument, pure and simple.
The Doors were great too...well the the band was great...Morrison was lucky enough to find the best band in California at the time.

Yeah, yeah, he was a poet, and a visionary..blah,blah....but he was also a jerk, a slob, a waste-oid, and general prick to those he loved.
I do like thier music, but Jimi is a rock star's rock star.

My vote goes to the late and great Hendrix...After all, he revolutionized rock 'n' roll, and the blues, and he is the second best guitarist after Randy Rhoads...

The door's aren't that bad, but their guitarist just doesn't do it for me. Their music's a little rough cut, too...so they don't get the vote...

Plus, I watched the PBS special on the blues, and they said that Jimi's spirit was reincarnated in a cat, which is way cooler than any lizard king...

For talent with a guitar Hendrix. Without Jim Morrison The Doors sucked. But with him they were more powerful than Hendrix. Over all Jim and the Doors get my nod.

Hendrix, although the term Band only loosely applies here.

Hard, hard choice, but going by the count on my CD rack, I prefer the Doors 4 to 3 over the Jimi Hendrix Experience.

Jimi--he did things with a guitar that still amaze me. While I think the Doors were damn good, I also think they're overrated.

Believe me, I've tried The Doors several times now, and they just drive me crazy. One of those bands where you just want to kick the stereo.

jimi hendrix isn't a band. he was a member of a band but not a band. the doors are a band. plus the doors kick ass
