I think this (http://www.theonion.com/news/index.php?issue=4022&n=1) is a pretty fair disription of the american elections so far, anyone care to disagree?

I remember the good old days when returning candidates used to rely on all the good things they did in the previous term and state how they were going to improve them in the next term rather than attacking someone who hasnt even had a go yet.
