TALK RADIO IN YOUR CITY: WHO DO YOU LISTEN TO

Who are your favorite and not so favorite local radio hosts?

I live in NW Indiana so I'm in the Chicago radio market.

My favorite show is "Roe and Garry" on 890 AM WLS, now just the "Roe Cohn Show" as Garry is now off the show due to ****ing contract disputes since his wife (now known as Yoko Ono to fans of the show) is now his agent and had him walk away from a 12 million dollar deal. She broke up Garry's previous radio partnership with Steve Dahl in 1993. (one that lasted 14.5 years)

Who else here misses Roe and Garry.

Garry is well known. He and former partner Steve Dahl were behind the famed Disco Demolition night at the old Comiskey Park.

Another good show is on sports radio 670 the Score. It is called "The wise guys" I like Doug Buffone (former Chicago Bear who was on 1963 championship team). He is hilarious and entertaining.

I also like Mancow Muller "Mancow's Morning Madhouse" on Q101. He is now national, but still based out of Chicago.

I like Teri Obrien on WLS. Her show is good. Expect to see her nationally syndicated soon.

Now who I hate Jay Marriotti (on sports radio WMVP ESPN 1000) You probably heard of him since he is on the ESPN show "Around the Horn" I use to like him, but can't stand him when he loves the ****ing Cubs and is bashing the Sox. I lost all respect I had for him 2 weeks ago when he got into an argument on air with Sox TV announcer Ken "Hawk" Harrelson. Marriotti was being an *** and showing his love of Cubs bias. No wonder he is Chicago's most loved and hated sports columnist and host.

I also hated Nancy Skinner and Ski Anderson "Ski and Skinner" WLS 890. They got cancelled last year. I couldn't stand them. They make George Soros sound like Rush Limbaugh.

I don't like the people that replaced Ski and Skinner either "Jennings and Jeffers" on WLS. Not as wacko left, but pretty far out there.

I don't like Ron Santo either since he broadcasts for the Cubs, but that's my only reason.

Well, I live in Manchester, England, so my hosts are obviously very different to yours, so I can't comment on how good/bad the ones you said are. Anyway, I listen to the No. 1 Radio Station For Manchester and the North-West, Key 103...And I'd have to say my favourite host is James Stannage. 'Toolan in the morning' is alright, however it was better with 'JK and Joel at Breakfast'.

Well talk radio, let's see... Well Russ Martin has an alright talk radio show over here in Dallas. He can be a bit rude and crude at times, but it's usually really funny.

Michael Savage, Armstrong & Getty, Dr. Laura on occasion when having a visit with my mother.

8) First off, cool to hear about WLS -- I grew up listening to that station.
Of course to give you an idea just how old I am, it was then top 40 pop music and MoTown sounds. (I spent part of childhood in Elmhurst -- Western suburbs)

Here in New Orleans talk radio is dominated by rightwing nut cases.
There is one exception -- Jeff Crouere, host of "Ringside -- Politics With a Punch" (Noon to 2pm CDT on AM 690 WTIX; <ringsidepolitics.com>)

While Jeff is a proud "Reagan Republican", he has nevertheless extended his forum to liberal/left and conservative/right callers alike.

Jeff also has a television show by the same name (Friday nights at 8:30pm, WLAE-TV 32 / The Archdiocese of New Orleans' station!) where he has his interviewees sit with him in the middle of a boxing ring. At one point last year he co-hosted with former New Orleans mayor Marc Morial as Jeff's liberal opponent. (Morial is now in NYC heading up the Urban League).

Well, here in New Orleans...

David Tiree (spelling on last name?!) on 870 AM from about 2-4pm
every now and again I hear Dr Laura with my mom, but usually I like the good old "RIGHT-WING ATTACK MACHINE" known as Rush Limbaugh. Great man, makes me laugh because the libs squirm and always make sure to try to get us to believe what he says isn't true on some level.

Thank God for Rush and other conservative talk show hosts like him :o)

I don't really listen to the radio all that much anymore. Too much repetitiveness when it comes to the "top" songs of the last year. Bores me to death.

WLS switched to news/talk about 15 years ago. Did you ever listen to steve Dahl and Garry Meier when they were together? They have been around forever

I like Roe and Garry too. I miss Garry.

I heard that interview that Jay Marriotti did with Hawk. While I thought Hawk was being rude, Marriotti did piss me off with his bias.

i still listen to the drive, and oldies 104.3 used to be the only station i'd listen to for the first ten years of my life, until i wanted to be popular, switching to b96, then to 92.7 kiss fm. then i switched to q101 and, refining my taste in music, to what is now mostly 97.9.

also on q101, loveline with adam corolla and dr. drew was (still is, i just don't listen) always funny

I'm so glad that I can get AirAmerica Radio streaming. If it weren't for that my "choices" would be limited to KLBJ (with "Dr." Laura,Rush "don't kill all the liberals" Limbaugh, and Neil "High Priest of the Church of Agitprop" Boortz) or KJCE (Austin's Fascist...er Conservative Voice).

Though I do enjoy listening to the Bob and Tom Show in the mornings....

Long Live Limbaugh!

As Bill O'Reilly and one of his viewers communicated:

Viewer via email-> Bill, since I live in Boston and the DNC will give the nomination officially to Kerry... I've got my Bush-Cheney '04 shirt, Limbaugh cap and several conservative flyers that I'm bringing with me there. Anything else I'm forgetting?

O'Reilly-> Yes, a body guard

Air America. love it. such a breath of fresh air. and gee, whaddya know, they actually cite facts (historical, gov't doc., professionals) with their commentary. they stand up to my scrutiny of scholastic and journalistic ethics, impressive. realized i missed some morality with my media. the regular propaganda was getting tiresome and sad.

 Do you think that there could be bias in Al Franken? If you go to him for facts then I weep for you. Limbaugh and Hannity do cite sources also. Stop lying to yourself there.

The regular media is propaganda, leftist propaganda, Peter Jennings, Brokaw, and Rather are all open liberals, as is CNN's Judy Woodriff, Nightline host Ted Koppel, America's "most respected journalist" (my ass) Walter Cronkite, etc.

The only conservatives you can name are radio hosts and Fox ancors (yes that is why I watch Fox and not the others). I never knew that controlling 1 of the 5 major news channels equals conservative control (the 5 are ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, and CNN.)

Howard Stern, but for the same reason people look at car wrecks. I find it funny that a fourty year old man still brings in porn stars and weirdos. And he is ass-ugly too. The classic Ol' Dirty Bastard.

It was Merrick and Rosso till The Chaser and CNNNN just took over, and so naturally Today Today just followed (damn them not continuing The Friday Chaser). But M&R come in a close 2nd.
