Battle of the Bands (Korn vs. Nirvana)
ROUND 2 BRACKET 4 (The Pile)
Okay here's how the voting goes. Since the polls can easily be manipulated this is the voting system we will use:
If you post your vote with a nation of 75 posts or more, that vote counts as two. The poll votes count as 1. Technically your vote can be counted as three votes, if you vote both in the poll and post what you voted for.
However, even with this system in place this entire poll can be easily manipulated. So I ask you, please don't... Let's not cheat shall we?
Also, I'd like arguements from both sides on why that particular band (in this case, either Korn or Nirvana) should win. So please feel free to post long paragraphs regarding the merits of either Korn or Nirvana.
The poll will run for exactly 1 day.
After the poll closes. Posted votes will not count.
GET TO IT!!!

This is a joke, right?
You're kidding, right? How can Korn even begin to compare to one of the greatest rock bands of all time?

how can anyone like either band? that was kind of my point.
I will go against the grain and vote Korn... why? Because I really don't like Nirvana (I belive they are very overrated).... And Korn has some pretty good songs.
If you don't like my opinion, well just shut up about it and don't flame me.

You know my only real problem with Nirvana is their music never evolved, never changed. It was always the same sound. I'd take them over Korn but still.

To be fair, i think perhaps the lead singer/songwriter dying had something to do with their music not evolving to much....but imagine if there were still around..they would most likely be a laughing stock, like Whitney Houston.

I can't choose either.
I love Nirvana 'cause at the time they sounded like me.
And I love Korn for pretty much the same reason.

nirvana
Korn weren't always shit, though Nirvana were...
So Korn get my vote, but bear in mind that if the competition was 'Korn vs A Foot Infection', Korn would come second.
Nirvana. Please.
They actually had whatchamacallit. You know. A lot of bands don't have it.
..........
Artistic talent, that's it!

Nirvana has many more well-written songs than Korn, besides, all they do is scream.

Nirvana. This is the easiest choice so far. The only band involved even close to being as bad as Korn is Tool.
This is what I think of Korn (a little review I wrote on Amazon.com about the debut album):
Where to begin?
This album is a travesty of the worst kind to the world of hard rock and heavy metal. No, it is not metal, but keeps getting lumped in with metal time and time again, as those with no knowledge of metal grope for a label.
I bought this album in 1994, but then sold it shortly afterward. I seriously gave it many a listen to try to see what all the fuss was about. So what did I find? Contrived teen "angst" lyrics, a whiny vocalist who could not hold a tune with both hands and a bucket, stolen riffs, a poor sound quality with over-simplified bass lines swamping everything else, bad drumming, and an overall interest in trying (and failing) to seem cool by being hard done by.
The worst thing about the album is that it enabled this excuse for a band to record several more since, as well as influencing thousands of copy cats, and generally reducing the collective IQ of the youth of this world.

They're both trailblazers that the NuMetal pop boys have been trying to emulate ever since.

Neither of them have any talent, but Korn at least gets less play time on the radio, and thus wins by merit of annoying me less.
Seriously, have you ever met someone who liked Nirvana before Curt Cobain killed himself?* I've met a few 14 year olds who claim to have liked him back when they were four, and some 30-something wannabe-cool people going through a midlife crisis who can't name a single one of their songs, but aside from that... Jesus, couldn't we like someone who at least had a decent sounding song? If I wanted to listen to someone out of touch with reality whine to a bad tune, I'd listen to AM talk radio.
And have you met ANYONE who claims to like Korn, without the influence of drugs?
*Yes, they were good in concert. Soul Asylum was better, and they produced Hang Time and Made To Be Broken, but we don't worship them, because they went down sucking. Nirvana just plain sounded "blah" the whole time.

Nirvana was not fake. Korn is. Enough said.
You know my only real problem with Nirvana is their music never evolved, never changed. It was always the same sound. I'd take them over Korn but still.
That's completely untrue. The way that they changed their sound from album to album is one of the reasons I like them so much. Compare the song "Radio Friendly Unit Shifter" to "Negative Creep"...Hell, throw in "Hairspray Queen" and "Lithium" as well. They're all from different albums and have very different sounds. Just listen to one of these songs compared to their really well known ones like Heart Shaped Box or Smells Like Teen Spirit will more than prove my point as well.
Obviously, i'm voting Nirvana :D. Korn's first two albums had some good songs on them, but boy did they go downhill.

Yeah, so here's my beef with Nirvana:
I am a HUGE metal head (well, I only weigh 120lbs. and am 5'7", but my hair is 24" long!!!). I LOVE bands like AC/DC, Aerosmith, Ozzy (with Randy Rhoads), Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Queensryche, Kix, Guns 'n' Roses, Whitesnake, White Lion, Great White, Poison, Metallica, Quiet Riot, the Bullet Boys, Alcatraz, Yngwie J. Malmsteen, Dokken, Black Sabbath, Dio, The Scorpions, Cinderella, Kingdom Come, Alice Cooper, L.A. Guns, Van Halen, Jackyl, Savatage, Skid Row, and more. Now, these are all hair metal bands, and I love them all. The thing is, no one makes music today, anything like the did in the 80's. Now, I have done a lot of reading, and listening, and I have been able to link NIRVANA, with the DEATH of METAL!!!! That's right, Nirvana killed metal.
Now, you might say "What about Creed? Alice in Chains? System of a Down? Linkin Park? Disturbed? Pearl Jam? Even Korn? Aren't these all metal bands?" In a way, yes. However, they fall under the category of "NuMetal", and not "Heavy Metal, or Hair Metal". The thing is, is that all of these bands are a byproduct of Nirvana, and the death of metal. Now, we have these bands, who are heavily influenced by Nirvana, saying that they are metal bands. They are no replacement for the real hair metal bands though.
Now don't get me wrong, I like many of the bands I listed as NuMetal (with the exceptions of System of a Down and Linkin Park). They just don't fill the hole in my heart that Nirvana riped from me.
So, even though I am not a hige Korn fan, and would not normally vote for them, my Vote goes to them today, as they are the lesser of two evils...
Okay, because I don't feel like waiting for hours until the 24 hours are officially over... (I mean Korn isn't gonna win anyways...)
VOTING CLOSED POLLS CLOSED
Korn has been destroyed. Nirvana moves on.

Don't Worry Japaica...Nirvana will surely be crushed by the true greats like Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Ozzy, or Panera. Then we'll see who's laughing...
By the way (This goes out to Amerigo...), if you are going to make your own rules, you should at least follow them...Like you shouldn't change the way the votes are counted...it's like a scientific experiment...you can't change the variables in the middle, or you won't get acurate data at the end...As for closing the poles early, that's just stupid...You do know that people from differnent time zones use NS, right? By not giving a full 24 hours, people in come country no one has ever heard of before (ex: France) might not get to voice their opinions...So yeah...take that...

I closed at most three hours early... Korn was trailing by more than 20 votes in total... The NS server was acting like crap anyways...
In other words the only way Korn would have won is mass cheating by puppet voting...
Besides its not an experiment. It's a distraction from the fury of everyday life.
(Also notice I voted for Korn... because frankly I don't like Nirvana.)
Then again I didn't like the trend that I was following... since each time because of server problems each new Round started later and later... and that would cause problems ahead of time... So there... yeah take that...
And have you met ANYONE who claims to like Korn, without the influence of drugs?
I like KoRn & i dont take drugs
