Did a mod just delete the thread polling if mods should be supervised?


This is madness folks, a person points out his nation was deleted and just asks for a reason why it was. The mods' need supervising, but the mods' don't like the idea of it.

Don't get me wrong, I think the mods' here are liberal in how they handle the forums but some form of control is needed for the occasional unfair decision or power trip.

Someone rightly pointed out this is a private forum, so Freedom of Speech isn't sacrosant here, this may be true but the mods on the whole don't own the forum yes?

They have to be responsible to someone or you will get the odd errors, it's not an attack on the work they do, it's just a realistic check so that the good work the NS mods on the whole do continues with no blemishes.

They have to be responsible to someone or you will get the odd errors.

It might have been moved to 'Moderation'. Else if it was deleted, it wouldn't be surprising

Why would they delete someone trying to make a constructive comment about the running of the forums?

Polls on this site are often not very accurate, given you can vote as many times as you like with puppets. It's some what irrelevant.. having a poll that is...

I guess a poll "Should there be a thread concerning whether or not mods should be supervised that includes a poll?" is in order.

It was kind of an irrelevant poll anyway.. the Mods ARE supervised.. by Max.

If you don't like something they've done, then there IS a complaints procedure to take.. starting a poll isn't part of it.

Well Max owns the forums. And Max appointed/approved the mods/admin, and as Max says in the FAQ "It's my own little father knows best state." Max does supervise the mods, even moreso for the more drastic punishments.

So, while the mods don't have ownership of the forums, they have been given the authority to police them (with some supervision to boot). AFAIK though, only Max can approve site bans. So if you get yourself banned from the site, that's Max smacking you upside the head.

Having met Max; I can tell you he is a nice guy so I have no problems with his desires for the board.

The mods are ok here. I have skirmished with a couple and was not punished by them. They are fair.

I did not see you poll but as a former mod; I probably would have deleted it as well. Polls on a free board offer little value.

Many think they should have a free hand to post anything they want.

It is a free board so you don't have any rights when you don't follow the rules.

Well, if this was in Moderation, perhaps, it wouldn't have been locked or such.
