I believe, as does author Nick Hornby in High Fidelity, that any list of the five greatest songs of all time must include Marvin Gaye's Let's Get It On. That is the getting-laidest song of all time, no doubt.

None of the above should be an option.

And why is that? Care to elaborate on your statement, rather than just taking a quick shot at my work?

I'd consider Stairway--though not for all time--but Freebird? No way.

Where the f--- is Stairway to Heaven or Freebird???
Alas, the good songs which could not make the list would go into the thousands. Someone could sit and talk forever about songs that should have been on that list.

Hmm, what happened to the poll?

That's why it's such a great debate--and why Hornby was able to write such a good book with that as the motif. The movie was pretty damn good too.

to narrow it down to a mere five would be against mty musicians soul.

Dirty Women- Black Sabbath.
anything off of Abbey Road.- The Beatles.
Voodoo Child- Hendrix.
The Bargain- The Who.
Sympathy for the Devil- The Rolling Stones.

My bad, I just tried to make a poll of my own and saw that you dont get that many choices. But the only reason I say none of the above should be an option is because like Dogs said, the list would be in the thousands...With that many to choose from it would be hard to narrow it to those few.
