I've been out of the country for almost a year, but what...the...fug? Someone explain to me what the hell is happening to the youths in America.
I don't put specific examples because I have none. This is the work of a ranting lunatic.
Well, they are way too slutty to start with. Their parents spoil them and give them everything they want so they have never had to work for anything in their life, and don't plan to start now. Their parents were too busy doing something else to teach their children any manners. The media has also told the youth that their lives suck, but they can be mad better by doing drugs, drinking, and having sex. And like the little idiots they are, they go along with it.
I could go on for ever...

The youth of America... are apathetic, that's all.
that's not true! They care about things. They care about their clothes and their hair, and who can sleep with more people. They care about a lot of things, they just don't care about the right things.

Wait a second here. I'm far more apathetic than any of today's youth. Is it that I'm not retarded and don't shoot up heroine to solve all of life's little problems that defines the difference?

Umm... generalization are generally a bad thing. Except in my case. But in the case of your argument, your generalizations are very bad, becasue they contribute nothing to the talk and make you sound like a disgruntled old man. SO... stop insulting me and my parents. Thank you.

TRhe problem with today's youth is the music. How can anyone develop into a complete human being if they are forced to grow up listening to that stuff. Think of what you would be like if your formative years had been shaped by the likes of Britney Spears and tell me I'm wrong. The wonder is not that drug use and casual sexis up among youth, but there are still some who don't use drugs or casual sex to try to find some meaning in a life where meaning is defined by april levigne.

Since I am an Aussie, perhaps I can provide another perspective on things.
It's not just American kids that are doing all sorts of junk. Australian kids have too. Personally, I don't blame Britney Spears. She turned up AFTER the problems had already set in. Back where I'm from, we already had 8 year old drug dealers. I'd be somewhat inclined to blame Hanson, the Spice Girls, and Savage Garden, but even then, they probably came around too late to catch the start.
Maybe it's simply the group mentality that pervades almost all sections of Western society. I was never a real part of any group while I was at school. I wasn't all that happy about it, because I was kinda lonely; but better to be lonely than boozing up every second night, smoking like a bushfire, or taking drugs.

That's probably true, but we're not far behind (england). Our society seems to follow america's pretty close now. No doubt in a couple of years time english kids be as bad as american ones are now but america will find a whole new level to sink to.

Kids here (Japan) are far more group oriented and far less politcally outspoken. Also, they aren't near as messed up. Literally, the worst kid in my school has done the following things: been drunk, had sex, smokes cigarettes. I don't mean like a constant string of sexual partners, I mean has had sex. And drunk, not often. Back in America, I wasn't neccesarilly a bad kid, but that is just laughable.

Funny.
I'm 32. I remember being 16 and thinking most of the people my age were idiots.
Now, I work at things like raves and concerts as a medic. At least my generation had the sense to know what was in the pills they were taking. Typical conversation with someone on the ragged edge of freaking out:
Me: "So, what did you take tonight"
Them: "Dunno."
Me: "I'm not going to turn you in, I need to know so that I can help." *point to friend who brought patient in* "Ask her, she was in here at the last rave."
Friend: "It's ok, tell him."
Them: "They were blue, with a dolphin on them."
Me: "Do you know what's in those?"
Them: "Uh, well, like.... E?"
Me: "Nope. GHB and ketamine, maybe a bit o' meth."
Them: "Holy sh!t, really?"
Me: "Now this is a sat of EKG leads, don't move..."
Today's kids: Too bloody stupid to check what they're taking. DARWIN IS LOOKING AT YOU.
Oh, well, at least I'm getting really good at dealing with overdoses.

geez how did y'all get so OLD?
its probably best not to judge a whole generation of people based on those who show up in an emergency room after a rave.
i bet thomas jefferson said the same thing about the next generation after him.
we think the kids of today are pathetic losers right up until the time they are called on to act. then they show what they are really made of.
look at our troops in iraq, the vast majority are under 25 and out of the country for the first time in their lives. they are doing an amazingly good job in extremely difficult circumstances.
the teens of today will do just fine when the time comes for them to do what needs to be done.

I, an American, have this to say:
Well, they are way too slutty to start with
I agree to some extent. Many of my female peers at my school are the biggest bitches who wouldnt think twice about having sex w/some guy. That's not to say there are one or two really nice girls . . .
Their parents spoil them and give them everything they want so they have never had to work for anything in their life, and don't plan to start now
I hate admitting this but to some extent again, you are right. I live in a very well-off town and while there are the students who will get somewhere in life many of the boys and girls at my school are spoiled rich little brats.
BUT I offer this in my defense:
So me and all the other Honors students were just handed out good grades? So all the community service I'm doing and my position on the school paper don't qualify as 'work'?

We can determine accurately that American youths are just a sad excuse for drug-using ravers who constantly bitch and moan that they do too much work after school and are handed grades for nothing before shipping off to fight in a holy crusade against the Muslims. Did I leave anything out?
