Anyone played EVE?

I'm thinking of giving an MMORPG called EVE a go. If you have played it, I would appreciate any praise / rants / comments you have.

EVE. Good screen-saver there.

I was in EVE beta. It was fun for like five minutes, but now that economies are in existance and there are more players, it may be more interesting. It's damn pretty, though.

I say give Dark Age of Camelot or City of Heroes a try. Or just wait until Worlds of Warcraft or EQII comes out.

Beware MMORPGs! They will drain away your life!

EVE can be fun, but you really need to interact with other players to get more than a little enjoyment out of it.
And when making a character, make sure you have low charisma and willpower, they're far less useful than perception, intelligence and memory.

Yes, I'm planning to get a Gallente Miner and specialise him in those areas, which would give me mining drones and ultra-efficient refinery processes. No use getting command skills super-quick if you can't afford a warship.

I have been invited into a corporation, a friend of mine is in it already. It's a sort of "do what we say, and we replace lost ships for free" deal. Disadvantage is, you end up being a lookout on mining missions in 0.0 sec space. But, yeah . . .

Anyway, I reckon I would have the social aspect sorted. Just wondering if people have been generally satisfied with their game experience.

If you're going to be a look-out, you'll be wanting a good ship. That means a high perception.
But being a miner means needing a high intelligence.
Better to make those your main attributes, and have a decent memory as well so you can easily learn the Learning skills. Which you'll be wanting rather quickly.

Ah well. No charisma and willpower for me, then.
