I want to put on record my deep and sincere gratitude to the Allied troops of WW2 and especially, on this day, for the sacrifices on D-Day.
This world is only largely free due to this most historic of days.
Below is a link to the BBC site. I invite people to go there and click on the link at the top right marked 'Watch and listen to BBC news'. You will see various video news coverage, the first is how world leaders commemorated the event, including, for the first time, the German Chancellor. I also reccomend the other associated story regarding the Queen speaking on Juno beach, to British and Canadian veterans. 42,000 Canadians alone died to defeat fascism and Naziism.
God bless those men and women of all the Allied countries that fought and died.
