The Republicans want to have FDR taken off of the dime and put Reagan on there, I think that is total bullshit. FDR is one of the greatest presidents USA has ever seen. What do you think, who deserves it more?

Let's take a look at both Presidents:

FDR - Came in during the Great Depression after Hoover did very little. FDR started the New Deal, which really didn't get America out of the Great Depression, but the government spending which was caused by the New Deal helped a little bit. The war economy during World War II brought America's economy back up. That was under FDR's watch, and the war economy during that war went pretty well.

Reagan - Came in towards the end of the Cold War. Caused Stalinist Russia (USSR) to collapse. He increased military and defense budget spending stuff. The American economy was strong enough at the time to stay strong enough through that, but it was hurt a lot. The economy of Stalinist Russia was not able to keep up with what Reagan put in place in America. Led to the end of the USSR. USSR, as well as the Berlin Wall, fell in 1989 (?) on the watch of George I of USA.

This one is actually pretty close; however, what FDR did started a rise in the economy from the crappy economy of the 1930's. The economy continued to rise throughout the war, and the economy was the highest EVER in the 1950s. The economy dropped a little between 1945 and when Reagan came in, and it dropped a little more during Reagan's watch. These drops weren't really all that significant.

FDR helped save the USA from the threat of Hitler taking over the world (Britain and Russia really helped on that. The Blitzkrieg really didn't work in London or Russia.) What Reagan did eventually led to the fall of Stalinist Russia, which, in the grand scheme of things, didn't really pose too great of a threat.

Anyway, Roosevelt should stay on the dime.

Sorry, but Reagan did not CAUSE the USSR to collapse. Not even close. What he did was hasten the process by about 10 days. Lets not give undue credit.

Those ten days took a murderous toll on America.
