I slept in until 5:30 P.M. (Pacific) today. I'm sure you're wondering, "but why did you sleep in so late." Yesterday was the graduation ceremony. I was the highlight of the show, naturally. First, I sang 'In My Life," by the Beatles, with my choir. Get this I was the last person to have my name called to go get my diploma, and you know what that means... TIME TO MAKE A BIG EXIT! Okay, I walked up on the stage to the rest of the graduates chanting my name, got my diploma, walked down the ramp, did a queen wave, then did a crisp about face, saluted the flag, then turned back toward the rest of the graduates and ran down the side of the crowd, high fiving everyone as I ran, like some sort of a sports hero or something. All the major events of the past four years of my life have revolved around Shasta High School in some way, and I had to make an exit. Me being the last graduate gave me the perfect opportunity.
I got the idea for the running high fives from the fact that the teachers used that as an example of what not to do at the practice graduation. But you know what? Even the teachers and administrators loved it when I actually did do it. They said that this was a graduation to remember.
Now, the reason I slept so late is because SoberGrad went till 6:30 in the morning. Never in my life have I ever seen so much food as I did at SoberGrad. 6 foot long sub sandwiches, Krispy-Kreme donuts, chips, tri-tip, Burger King, KFC, fresh burgers, and sooo much more.
Everyone was there. There was a climbing wall, which I climbed four or five times, and hence I am sore today. There were sumo wrestling fat-suits and a sumo ring. There was simulated surfing, and a whole bunch of other stuff that I can't remember.
At the end, when everyone was inside the Elks Lodge, I went up to the microphone and gave the end of the speech that I wasn't selected to do at the graduation. It was a variation on Howard Dean's scream speech. "And you know something, not only are we going to Shasta College, but we're going to Chico State and BYU and Stanford and Sacramento State and St. John's, and one day we're gonna run this country, IEEEEAAAAAHHH!
Later, I sung "Anchor's Away" in front of everyone.
It was a good day.
