The state of Connecticut has announced it will be renaming a mountain in memory President Ronald Reagan. The mountain is located right next to Mount Washington (named after George Washington).
A lot cities are planning to name roads and parks after him and a school in Illinoise might be renamed in his honor.

I am thinking of putting his picture in my toilet. After all, I have a toddler to potty train, and most people recommend that you give them a target to aim at.
Yes... The Reagan Memorial Toilet. Where the image of Reagan will learn all about how trickle down economics really feels. :lol:

I don't see why 1951-2001 should be the age of Reagan....maybe the 80s should be the Decade of Reagan, not the whole half century.

They should put this on the inevitable Regan Memorial:
He got rid of much of the useful regulation thereby putting this country on track to what John Edwards called "the two Americas," his foreign policy's scars are still evident across the world and the corruption and dishonesty (Iran-Contra) and his "War on Drugs" has thrown many people into American jails, which, from what I've heard, aren't exactly the safest places in the world for a twenty-something stoner to stay the night. His administration refused to put substantial monies into AIDS research because it was a "gay plague." He hired people who believed it was okay to rape the west for its natural resources because Jesus was just around the corner. He dealt heavy-handedly with the only true representatives of the Working Classes, the labor unions. His ridiculous spending levels have put the United States in a precarious econo-political position. Despite a boom in the economy, the purchasing power of the average worker fell due to wrongheaded "supply-side economics." His disturbingly Fascist-like rabid anti-Communism hearkened back to the Bad Old Days under McCarthy. All this was accomplished for no reason other than his personality and that he was a movie star.
And a disgrace to his name! :evil:

Question 1: Who are they?
Question 2: Upon what basis do they claim the right to do anything 'officially'?

Yes, his foreign policy which ended the time of basing decisions of foreign policy less on the traditions of the US government in the past, but rather on the best interest of the US now, based on actualy power and importance to the US, not on how we have acted towards them in the past.
And say what you want about Reaganomics, but it did finally get us out the recession that went all the wat back to the beginning of the Vietnam war. Of course Bush went and f*cked that up again before Clinton stepped in and continued where Reagan left off.
And it was Reagan who finally defeated the Soviet Union, well for the most part anyway, by increasing our defense spending the Soviet Union was forced to either match us or fall behind, they didn't have as strong of an economy as we did, their government eventually collapsed and we were left as the world's only superpower.

No, he tried to make reforms to preserve the Soviet Union, he was unable to because the Russian Federation, which was the largest republic of the Soviet Union, was unable to continue to use the Army to hold the Soviet Union together.

Some people wanted to put him on the $10 a while back. I replied with an angry letter to the editor in my local newspaper in response.

Ronald Regan:
Thank the Regan Administration,
That we don't have double-digit inflation;
Thank Regan,
For he fought,
that the American Military,
wouldn't be a laughing stock;
Regan tried and tried,
he won again,
in a landslide.
He fought and fought,
tried and tried,
but oh! how sad,
he went and died!
All your Regan are belong to us,

Most monuments and namings take place after a person has died. It's a natural occurance.

Yes, money drenched in the blood of patriots. When all is said and done, the United States, and all free nations owe Ronald Reagan a great debt. His method of fighting Communist tyranny brought an end to the Cold War. I was in Berlin when the Wall fell, and I shall never forget how much Reagan contributed to its decay.
