Smarty Jones

I'm glad he lost the Belmont. It would be great to have a horse win the Triple Crown, but not one who has the largest amount of money ever bet in a horse race on him. I would have been perfectly happy if Silver Charm, War Emblem, Funny Cide, or a number of other horses over the past few years had been the ones to win, but not a horse who has become such a media whore. I'm not saying it's the horses fault he has all this attention, but that's still the reason I didn't want him to win. I don't care what his story is, he's still a horse, no different from the rest. Birdstone kicks ass!!! He wasn't even one of the horses that were favorites of mine, he just beat SJ and that's all that counts.

See, I don't get the triple crown. It's three races, and if the winner of the Kentucky Derby lost the Preakness, no one would really give a rat's ass about Belmont. Plus, ever hear of Birdstone before he overtook Smarty Jones in the last legs of the race?

I was hoping for Smarty Jones, and expected him to win by at least five lengths, based on his past performance.

Stay on topic.. and please, you weren't even alive when he was president. He was 93.. hardly tragic.. I hope I live that old..

Who cares about a **** stick of elmer's glue when we have President to mourn Wow, you're nice. And a Republican. I'll mourn if I feel like it, and right now, I really don't.

Plus, ever hear of Birdstone before he overtook Smarty Jones in the last legs of the race? I would give a rat's ass, just because I would like to see my favorite horses win. I think many others would feel the same way. Actually there were stories about Birdstone after the Derby because he lost a shoe and thus finished poorly, so yes, I did hear of him. I didn't like him until he overtook Smarty Jones though.

I'm surprised no one is laughing at my horse and glue joke in there.

I'm surprised no one is laughing at my horse and glue joke in there. I'm surprised more people aren't calling you an asshole. And, hours later, I'm surprised I wasn't warned(or just deated on the spot) for flaming.

I can't believe more people didn't put in their opinion on this. Maybe nobody has an opinion.

I was hoping for him too.

I was really hoping for Smarty. He's a good horse, and I really thought he had a chance. Oh well. I'll admit, I was pretty impressed when they were talking about Birdstone earlier in the day.

It would have been nice to see Imperialism do a little better, too.

The main reason I didn't want Smartey Jones to win is because Funny Cide lost the Belmont last year. I mean, Funny Cide made a story even better than Seabiscuit or Secretariat. What is more amazing than a bunch of middle class high school buddies buying a horse (too bad they didn't win I was so disappointed last year)
