Yes, I am.

And a preemptive .

Now let the questions begin.
(Some bait - I'm a mid-30s Texan ESL teacher in Japan.)

Go ahead. Feel free. However, in view of your circumstance vis-a-vie the general population, you may want to be prepared for some rudeness regarding your truthfulness .

Yes if you want to get flamed.

@ D 2104:

iirc, you changed your name from Daistallia to Daistallia 2104. If I'm correct. why? (If I have mixed you up with some one else, I apologize, but why the number anyway?)

Yeah that's the reason I'm probably not gonna do it. They'll just find some way to flame me or find another mystery to solve.

Why are the Japanese So Nuts?

I suggest against it. You will probably get flamed for "lying". People still think you lie like hell, and the rest of us aren't sure.

Yeah I have decided against it.

Japaica I thought you knew I was telling the truth by now.

It was a RP thing. I got in a rut as Daistallia, so I changed. The number refers to the date I am roughly aiming at playing now. (When I do RP, which isn't as often as it used to be.)

Nope. Not sure. But I don't really care. I mean, this is sort of an RP site, so why not RP about your life?

Why are the Japanese So Nuts?

They aren't. Japan has a superficially different culture, but the essentials are the same - every Japanese I know loves, hates, eats, sleeps, poos, and genberally behaves in a very human manner. Beyond that it doesn't really matter all that much, does it?

(If you have a specific point about the culture you find crazy, please do ask. I know quite a bit about the subject.)

They are even more nuts than the British. Just the perception that they all seem normal and reserved. But many of them HAve Bizarre fetishes and the like.

Ah, yes. :)
There is a lot of social presure on certain segments of society (secondary students and business people in particular) to do well, and this (among other things) tends to leak out in odd manners - fetishism for example. However, most of what is reported regarding that is seen as being just as bizarre here as it is back in Peoria.
Also, I would sauy Japan, in many ways, has a higher tolerance for eccentricity than the US.

Are you a Buddhist?

Yes, I am. However, my teacher primarily teaches the Tibetian path. He is quite eclectic and works with whatever helps his students the most. He has been known to send students to Zen or Shingon teachers and calls on Sufis. the Kabbala, and other teachings.

Yes, quite. Although I am (supposedly) 1/4 Cherokee on my fathers side, he was adopted and brought up pretty redneck. Mom's side is pure English, supposedly with distant noble connections (Talbots).

He's pretty open minded. Also explains your IC character.

Yes, on both accounts. (And the better Buddhist teachers are quite open minded, as are all good teachers.)
