Maybe Catholics should elect their own church leaders.

Religion isn't about democracy.

Nah, I'm not Catholic, but it would totally degrade the Catholics.

I mean, do you really want to turn Catholism into politics? Not a good idea.

Yeah, and let priests get married if they want to. Monks, nah, priests, yes. And let women in on it too. Heck, I'd be a priest then!

Maybe he means injecting more politics into the Church? But I don't want to see elections, what I want to see is priests getting married. That would cut down on all the scandals.

thank you for the blunt, unwanted opinion.

I'd agree, but I RESPECT the religion. I mean, I don't believe in religion, but I believe that others should go without that intolerance.

I am a Roman Catholic, but I respect other people's opinions. I don't shut people out to myself. I don't mind going to services and activities at a protestant church, temple, synogogue, or a mosque. My respect includes everyone who has that same respect for others (including atheists). So really, what's your problem?! I have several atheist friends, and we get along perfectly.

Maybe by every-week churchgoers, but not twice-a-year Catholics or "lapsed" Catholics.

The Pope is elected by the Cardinal of Bishops.

As a Catholic, I would be against electing bishops, cardinals, and the like. I would not be against priests being allowed to marry. Does it not make sense for a priest to be the exemplar of married life for his parrish?

What's unfortunate is that there are Catholic priests who are married. Episcopalian priests who become Catholic can be married. The two religions are so close to one another that priests can almost switch back and forth, which is what many Catholic priests do.
