i just got off the phone from an unsolicited sales call
IN SPANISH
my husband has a spanish surname. his family has lived in this country since new mexico became part of this country
i answered the phone with HELLO, the woman asks for my husband in spanish, he does business in latin america with people who have limited english so i am careful to always be polite.
i said IN ENGLISH that he wasnt here, she asked for the mrs IN SPANISH
i said i was the mrs and she finally started talking in english and said she was calling for SEARS
i was a little harsh when i told her that she should inform her supervisor that its nice to have spanish skills but that just because one has a spanish surname it doesnt mean they speak spanish and that if someone answers the phone IN ENGLISH that should be a clue that they speak english
was i wrong?
