Battle of the Bands (Metallica vs. Judas Priest)
ROUND 2 BRACKET 2 (Legends of Metal)
Okay here's how the voting goes. Since the polls can easily be manipulated this is the voting system we will use:
If you post your vote with a nation of 75 posts or more, that vote counts as two. The poll votes count as 1. Technically your vote can be counted as three votes, if you vote both in the poll and post what you voted for.
However, even with this system in place this entire poll can be easily manipulated. So I ask you, please don't... Let's not cheat shall we?
Also, I'd like arguements from both sides on why that particular band (in this case, either Judas Priest or Metallica) should win. So please feel free to post long paragraphs regarding the merits of either Metallica or Judas Priest.
The poll will run for exactly 1 day.
After the poll closes. Posted votes will not count.
GET TO IT!!!
I wholeheartedly vote Judas Priest... but I'm guessing it's a lost cause and Metallica will win this one....
Ahhh we meet again , my old friend...
Metallica rocks simply because Lars is my god of drums.
(I learned how to play by listening and practicing with Metallica songs.)
Although I must say Rob Halford is cool. Very cool for proclaiming his homosexuality in that biz but that has nothing to do with Judas Priest's music. Fun to bang my head to but not as musically lyrical as Metallica.

Was that a vote for Metallica?
Why do I get the feeling that at least half the people who voted for Metallica, never listened to Judas Priest.

Don't count their votes unless they can prove they know what Judas Priest sounds like! 8)

Metallica, though they all of their stuff went downhill after the Black Album.

Get thee to a music store, post haste, heathen!
(Although I wonder if this is more of an age thing. I suspect Metallica is winning due to the skewed demographic here. Kids usually have poor taste. ;) :P )

It has to be Metallica. How can anyone vote differently? They burry Judas Priest in sheer volume of good songs. Not that I don't like Judas Priest, but Metallica is just . . . Metallica.

The Black Album??
Hell that would be very forgivable if thats all they did wrong...
I cant forgive them for Load..Reload.....or St. Anger......(The worst album EVER by a "Metal" band."
Still...
Kill em All...'
Ride the Lightning.
Master of Puppets
Garage Days revisted.
And Justice for All....
Those are some of the best Metal albums ever.

THe two are essentially different, but I would say Judas. Why? Because Metallica SUCKS. Judas ROCKS. Judas was old school, and Metallica shut down Napster. Judas takes the cake 100% on this one.

Yes, but the Black album paved the way for all those other atrocities.

Metallica, although I hate what has happened to them over the last few albums, is still the better group. I'm going simply on the number of albums that are consistantly good all the way through. On Metallica's side, there is "Kill 'Em All", "Master of Puppets" and their self-titled album.
This, of course, is not to knock Judas Priest. They were a major influence on most NWOBHM bands and a great live group. I never get sick of hearing their best songs. However, "British Steel" and "Screaming for Vengeance" are the only truly good studio albums they have made. Most of their albums have two or three good songs while the rest are mediocre. The problem was too much emphasis on longer songs that really went nowhere. There was a heavy Deep Purple influence in a lot of their work, but Judas Priest usually shined when they just went at it hard and fast and ignored the '70s metal conventions.

I have to vote for Metallica, as they are awesome. That's not to say that Judas Priest isn't, either, but while I have all of Metallica's studio albums, I only have "Painkiller" and "Jugulator" by Judas Priest. So I vote Metallica, based on the sheer volume of songs I've heard.
Metallica were by far my favourite metal band when I was in high school, which naturally meant that a bit of JP would drop into my lap every now and then, and while I respect their contribution to metal, they didn't fucking rock near as much as Metallica.
Having said that, all of you who are whinging about Metallica's last few albums not being good probably aren't old enough to understand the ramifications of having Bob Rock work on your next album, which is your first release since your seriously arse kicking album entitled '...And Justice For All' and should try to get a grip on the fact that bands are comprised of people, in Metallica's case, three four talented people, and one completely useless ex-tennis player from Copenhagen. Honestly, he can keep time, well, but there's such a void on the creativity front that it is painful to hear. *shakes fist at Lars*

Um, this^^^ doesn't make a lot of sense. I AM old enough to remember Bob Rock producing the Black album with Metallica, but the only ramification I can think of is that it means the band completely sold out...
I don't know what that all about.....I am only 16 but I just think that....the....black...album....was....not....very....good and even though Metallica is great and all, Priest has seniority and great music so I vote for them

Comparing Metallica to JP is like comparing Harry Connick to Frank Sinatra - Harry is inferior in every way but only those old enough would really know.
