The Pope is on CNN right now with Bush.

Watching how fraile the Pope is right now makes me so sad.

What do other Catholics think about this? Is it time for him to step down?

Is the Pope allowed to step down ?
I thought he had to die to stop being Pope.
But I agree its a shame he has to go through with this in his condition.
He is one hell of a dedicated chap.

He is one hell of a dedicated chap.A Pope can step down. However, why would he when he is still capable of making carrying office? Don't let his physical attributes fool ya', this Pope has it all together. It's kind of like the crippling disabilities that Mother Teresa had years before her death. I agree, they are definitely dedicated.

Subjecting the frail and elderly to Bush is an act of cruelty.

The leader of the smallest nation in the world alongside the leader of the most powerful nation in the world... I wonder if they were talking about trade, or perhaps about the paedophile priests in America and other ountries.

Mmm I see what you are saying after all the man can speak how many languages, travels enough miles to make a salesman rich and works like a horse. despite disagreeing with some of hi fundamental tenets I can't help but admire him as a man.

I am 100% against him standing down.

His Holiness is an inspiration to us all. He continues, quite willingly, with his duties despite his fragile state. He recognises the importance of his position and that he must carry on with it until he reaches the last breath in this life.

It's about time people let him carry on with his job and stop putting him down. :x

Not to mention a few other languages as well. He could probably fit in about a dozen languages in the one sentence if he wanted to.

I saw Bush pick up a sheaf of papers and walk over to the Pope, holding the papers under his nose, jabbing at them with his finger.
I can hear it now: "But we have incontrovertible proof! high grade intelligence! Surely you can't support the spread of terrorism?"

Yes! And he is actually quite the liberal (in terms of being a pope)

The Pope is a great man. Anyone who can arse themselves to look up a bit of his history before, during and after WW2 would be unable to deny that. Most of us in his condition would never dream of fighting for life and the rights and freedoms of others. This man is a hero whether you're a Catholic, any other sort of believer, or just palin atheist. I won't achieve a fraction of what he's done in my life and so I don't take it on myself to take the piss out of true greatness.

Pope John Paul II should go on. Dedicated, one of the longest serving popes ever, and a non-Italian.

Wow! I really didn't expect you to say that...

Whether you like the Catholic religion/Church or not, everyone has to admit that Pope John Paul II is indeed a very good man.
