Can a man under general anasthetic 'rise'?

I'm not a doctor or nurse, and I really don't know the answer to this, but on searching through Google I came up with this lovely snippet of information to do with impotence:

Finally a variety of implants can be put into the shaft of the penis. The simplest simply permanently stiffen the penis while more sophisticated implants involve a tiny pump in the scrotum which can pump fluid into the implants producing an erection. These implants need to be inserted surgically under anaesthetic by the Urology doctors at City Hospital and if necessary you can be referred to the relevant doctors to discuss the options.

the answer is yes, it is a normal physiological response to attain an erection even when unconscious.

for example, with the removal of kidney stones, a flexible cord (with a laser and camera attached) is inserted into the urethra of the penis. This cord travels through the shaft of the penis, through the ureter, bladder, all the way to the kidney. The kidney stone is dissolved after being blasted with the laser.

The penis needs to be erect for proper insertion of the tubing.. otherwise, damage to the penis can occur as the insertion process is quite invasive.

Cheers.

Can a man under general anasthetic 'rise'?The penis' erectile functions are an unconcious reaction, such as hicupping or blinking. It is largely impossible to control (noting that there is evidence to the contrary), however suffice is to say given the stimulus the penis can becoem erect whilst a patient is unconcious.
