Is anyone on a Highschool/College track team? Just wondering. If you are but your events and your personal record for each event.

I'm a freshman on a highschool track team. These are my main events and my times:

800 meters- 2min. 36sec.
1600meters (1 mile)- 5min. 58sec.

Well...A long time ago, when I was considerably thinner...

40 yard- 5.1 sec
1 mile- 6min 3 sec.

I was on the football team though, not track.

are you male or female?

When I was smoking a half a pack a day, and at a mile above sea-level I ran my first of two miles at your speed.

Oh, quiet you ;). I'm not much for running for the sake of running. I'd much rather stay and chat! We can't all be good runners.

Seriously; I was around 250lbs, being a lineman (american football) I wasn't meant for speed, but rather striking power. I guess I was a bit slow compared to the best, Cortez Kennedy (formerly of the NFL) ran his 40 yard dash in 4.6 sec...and he weighed over 360lbs.

I'm joining track next year once I cut my mile time down to sub-6 (6:43, but earlier this yr i couldn't even run sub-8, so I'll cut it down and have a respectable time). I'm also gonna do some field events like high-jump; the first time (also the last; I nevah got da opportunity to do it again) I was one of the best high-jumpers in da grade

I'm not in High School yet, but I did a half-mile (800 m) in 2:45 or so. Course, now it's probably a 2:55

400 meters in 0:55, which was considered slow

You do a 5:58 mile in high school. I've pretty much forgotten my old mile times from high school but that is good!

I don't really enjoy running to the extent that I'd practice enough to be on a track team.

Well, I Wrestled for the High School this past year as a freshman, and for about three months we had to run 3 miles a day, 5 days a week (not to mention a ton of other junk for upper body strength). My fastest mile is about 6:15. Fastest three-mile- 26 mins.
My fastest 400 meter is 1:03.
That's all I keep up with.

You should join a track team. I mean, when I started at the beginning of the season, I was barely under 7 min. Now I'm just under 6. I'd say that's pretty good for one season.

It's been 25 years since I ran track but my best 880 yd (sorry no metric events back then) was 2:10, my best mile was 4:36. My son who is a sophmore (and won his varsity letter as a freshman in track) runs the 800 in 2 flat and the 1600 in 4:20. His current goal is to break the magic 4 minute barrior in the mile before he graduates, he's even giving up football and running crosscountry next year to help in the effort.

Wow. That's awsome. You should be proud.

Well these stats are a little outdated. These are from 2 years ago... since I haven't actually done track and gotten it timed... however I still run/other stuff so I wouldn't have gotten much worse if at all....

400: 0:54
800: 2:14
1600: 5:46

Those might not be the exact numbers, as I said it was two years ago. However those numbers seemed to ring a bell, and I know it was very close to those if not exactly.

Pretty damn good.

BTW, I get 1:08 on the 400. Not too god, is it?

My team were the Beavers.

Honestly!

There was a suburban team near Cleveland named the Bunnies; their colors were pink and white.
