You join his region. A region is a bunch of nations that talk and they can endorse each other, have UN delegates and stuff, etc. By the way, if you're the liberal type, you can join the United Dominion. Actually, you can join anyways, just you'll be a vast minority. We have like, 1 conservative.

The best advice I can give you is to keep your mouth shut & your eyes open for a while, and I mean that in the nicest possible way.Many people are not just here for a chat,there are all sorts of power struggles,backroom deals & backstabbing going on.Since you're new people may take advantage of your lack of knowledge.But realise that these are not necessarily bad people,it's just the nature of the game,It's supposed to reflect real life,especially real-life politics (How many real-life politicians or dictators would you trust?!!) :?
Be especially wary of anyone asking you to join their region or become allies with their nation.You may be judged on your alliances.Do some research on the nation/region first.Read their posts,factbook entry,find out what other alliances or endorsements they have.Do your governments have similar ideals?Also ask yourself what you want from the game-Are you into Roleplay (War & trade) Politics (debates,forums,etc.) or u just want a friendly region where people chat a lot? check out their regional forum to get a feel for it.
Generally, just lurk around for a bit,Read FAQ & forums a lot to pick up the many terms used,gameplay advice ,etc..(especially "STICKIES"- This means a Game Moderator or Admin has decided that everyone should read this or approved of its content as being worthwhile)before getting too involved.Most of all,welcome to the game!
