Do AI's have souls?
What if an AI converts to a religion?
What about an animal that was genetically engineered to be sentient?

But animals think as do computers. Intelligence is thought process. By your logic 'I think, therefore, I am'; do not animals and computers have a consciousness and therefore a soul?

Animals think.
Computers do not....

All computers know is 0 and 1.

thats it.

Then how about quantum computers? There is zero, one, both, not zero, not one, and neither.

binary code...

1= circuit on.

0 circuit off....

Thats it.....

128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1
1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1

so....

96 would be.....

01100000

and now you know binary code.

Quantum computers rely on some very strange indeterminate states. The programming has not really been developed but it does look scary as only things are before the reality wave collapses. See Shrodinger's cat.

computers think because we make them to, animals think because they need to survive
Computers are totally manufactured and carry o traits to humans

Souls do not exist, where are they?

AI: Artificial Intelligence

The AI is not free becuase it has been created

What about an animal that was genetically engineered to be sentient?

Hang on, what's the difference between a sentinent being and non-sentinent?

uplifted animals certainly, ai is ambigious.
biomechanical constructs we can only pray they don't.

the fear of robots taking over the world on their own will is absolutely ridiculous. AI will never have their own soul, because they, by name, are artificial. anything artificial you see have a soul?

Do AI's have souls?
What if an AI converts to a religion?
What about an animal that was genetically engineered to be sentient?

An AI is a construct, and while it may imitate human emotions I would doubt its capacity to have a soul.

An animal... well, I don't know if sentience is the only criteria. I'm not sure that animals DON'T have souls now, or that they DO. However, as a fellow living creature, I believe humans are responsible for treating them humanely -- not like a $2.00 flashlight you can buy at a convenience store.

I think animals(animals in general, not specifically geneng) do, not robots and AI though

i don't see why you would deny an AI a soul if you give humans one. In my eyes, human beings are AI's (not all of them, in a lot of cases you have to drop the intelligent part) as every thoughtproces/emotion basicly comes down to the physical proces in the brain. And an AI is a physical proces that creates an 'intelligent' proces. you might note that i don't believe humans have a 'soul'.

God knows what a soul is ( , sorry) cos i certainly dont but here's my view on conciousness:

Computer definatley dont think, they respond to our inputs and perfom prespecified tasks, if you could develope a program sufficiently complicatted that its outputs where indistinguishable from a human then it would be thinking (see the Turing test) and if you subscribe to "I think therefore i am" then it would be concious.

Non-sentient animals react in very simple ways to every situation therefore in my eyes they dont have consiousness, some animals (dolphins, certain predatory birds, some primates) do seem sentient though.

An AI done right would be able to learn. With that would they have a soul?

Of course animals have souls?...Did Grandfather Creator not make every creature on this planet?..is the very water we drink filled with life?..as for AI's...that is a question I can not answer as....since they would be created not by the Gods..but by man...and historically speaking, man hasn't been all that good at creating life, but better at destroying it.
