False Preachers Are At It Again

The Left Behind series by Mr. Lahaye and his cohort are not based on the Bible. Mr. Lahaye twists scripture on this subject.
The Bible clearly states there will be no secret rapture. All Christians who are not dead at the time, will experience the tribulation. Jesus said that all living christians will experience the tribulation. And the book of revelation gives details on the christian experience during the tribulation.
Mr. Lahaye also teaches falsehoods regarding death. His books make it like there won't be a future ressurection of the dead cause according to him, you go straight to heaven or hell when you die.
This teaching is clearly against the clear word of God which states that when a person dies, they go into an eternal sleep to wait to be awakened by the ressurection of the good in christ at Christ's second coming.
And I am disturbed by those who say that only if you join this or that church will you have a relationship with God. Jesus said, "No one comes to the Father except through me."
I post this to warn you against these false teachings.
"In the latter days, the majority will prefer falsehoods to the true word of God." New Testament.

Unfortunately, 45 million American "christians" believe the books to be literal revelations of gospel truth.
Hence, the reason I make this thread. To warn people against another false religion that is masquerading as christianity.

I don't think people believe the books to be literally what will happen. I'm sure some do, but just because I buy Harry Potter dosen't mean that I think Hogwarts and Professor Dumbledore exist.

Yeah, but wouldn't it be sort of cool if they did? :D

No seriously...what is the point of this thread?

There are no links to further information....I have no idea who or what you are talking about....

So what is the point of this thread?

The point is that one sect disagrees with another sect's interpretations of the bible. Unless you are a member of the religion in question, the post is meaningless.

BTW according to their own bible, Jesus lied about his return since it was supposed to happen while some of his followers were still alive. uess he just lost track of time.

dont these books have a stated timeline when all this is supposed to happen?
the end of the world has been projected to be imminent hundreds of times in the last 2000 years. most recenlty at the turn of the milennium. when it doesnt happen, theyll move on to something else

If your gonna make such a stink about some books, why don't you complain about the turner diaries, Mein Kaumpf, or some other extremist essays.

If your trying to make a movement against "Left Behind" The Nationstates forum is the wrong place to do it.

Of course you have just suggested that any church that believes in the version of Revelations described in the Left Behind books won't give you a relationship with God......hmmmm.......

Actually according to a recent poll by a christian polling firm, millions of christians now literally believe the events in the Left Behind serious to be the gospel. And preachers are using qoutes from the books in their sermons.

There were a couple of them. One was done by USNews/PBS.

Can you provide a link? I'd be interested in reading this poll. You also mentioned a specific Christian polling group that did a poll. Do you have a link to that? Again, I'm not being confrontational, I would just like to actually read the poll results myself and see what questions were asked, particularly in the case of the Christian polling group because they are identified as "Christian" which indicates a certain inherant bias in their findings.

I understand where you'er coming from. And your last sentence about bias is a trueity. I read them in a magazine but I can try to see if they're online. I would like to read the actual poll too. The magazine only cites the poll as you probably know that magazines do.
I don't think your being confrontational, your one of the few rational thinkers on this forum. Which is quite refreshing.
Let me see if I can find it using goodle.

This is what we need. Another Christian giving the rest of us a bad name, perpetuating the stereotype of a conservative waiting for the end of the world. By your logic Ghandi can't go to heaven and yet Hitler can.

The books don't change anything about the way you live, other than to say that the End is coming one day so you should be prepared for it and be sure you have a close relationship with God. If the books do contain false information, it isn't anything that you would "follow," which would tell me that they are no more dangerous to Christians than Deep Impact was to most people.

Even most ordained ministers don't claim to undestand Revelations, so no one can say that these books are completely false or completely true. They are one (or two, I think) man's interpretation of what may happen. Agreeing with him or disagreeing with him isn't going to affect your relationship with God because the only think he encourages for now is to make sure you have a close relationship (not just a "I sorta kinda go to church just to make people think I do" one) *now* to prepare for when the end comes. If there is no Rapture, then you may live through Tribulation - but you simply have to be sure that you are closely following God regardless.

Sadly everyone has their own intrepretations of any given word in the Bible. Although this is not exclusive to Christianity I am sure. Many people claim to know the "Answer". We may not know which one is right until the end. All we can do is think for ourselves and listen to what others say to. In the end it will be our choice to believe what we will. Which opens the idea of the doctrine of Predestination and a whole other debate.

That is false. Since neither Hitler nor Ghandi were true christians, neither of them will ever enter the kingdom of heaven.
If you believe nonchristians are going to heaven, then yours is a false christianity.
