With his surrender and his followers fleeing Fallujah...that leaves Najaf and Karbala..and they're on the run..very soon the fight will leave them, that leaves the Sunni and the foreign fighters to deal with, not to mean Ansar al-Islam, the Iraqi Al-Queda group....so naysayers.can you not at least grant that this is a very welcome turning point in resolving the security issues in Iraq?

Really? I can't believe it. I'm going to go call all my frineds and were are going to party like its December 13th and July 22nd all over again. Thank God America has achieved such a great victory. And to think those leftys in my History class doubted our nation and our armed forces.

He was just seen on CNN...oh yeahhhh..the only problem left is to disarm his followers and then mebbe we can get on with reconstruction and taking on the foreign fighters.....I think his surrender will also take the wind out of the Sunnis who have been fighting as well...with each new school reopening..with each new supply drop to an Iraqi hospital, with each new storefront opening in a market the forces of democracy win.

Edit:Ok..my joy is premature..it's that there is a deal on the table for his surrender, but not to his capture by Iraqi forces...

Given your list, that's not even a third. Half of a third maybe.

I'm not saying it's not a good thing, I'm just saying it's a little early to spike the ball and call for champaign,

Umm...hey I'm all happy for our soldiers and all....

but...there's no report anywhere on CNN that Sadr surrendered or anything CLOSE to that.
although a Sadr aide was captured

Looks more like a local withdrawal. He's still in charge. And with the second Russian power company leaving Iraq, the electricity outlook for this summer looks bleak. That can only spell trouble.

No, I would say the situation is still crap.

even if he did surrender I wouldnt say its a great victory and the security issues in Iraq are even close to being over.

besides I think the Iraqis should still keep fighting for their freedom from American oppression

Dammit i should have waited for the nationstates newshounds to check this before I posted....

Some things that occour to me that may or may not be relivant:

If I ever become 'up to no good,' I think I'm going to make sure to be extra vigilant during pre-dawn periods.....

The occupation is supposed to officially end on June 20th, but hostilities where supposed to have officially ended when W landed on an aircraft carrier. My question is: when the occupation ends, how are we going to be able to tell?

The only deal in the works is he might, I stress might, be willing to turn himself over to other Shi'ite clerics AFTER the turn over of power to Iraq on June 30th.. doesn't sound like there is much of a deal in the works at all actually. Doesn't mean he won't take the fight else where. The problem he has is with Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani and holy landmarks being in danger. This would appear to be coming from Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani, not the Americans.

Ahhh you fool. Lol. thats funny. Anyway. Even If al Sadr were to go away the whole point of the resistance is thats its desentralised. In fact if These stronghold cities were to fall then it would be bad because this persusaion would sweep all over the country.
