I concur wholeheartedly with your post. After all, why work for yourself, when you can give all your food and money to your Great Leader, and work for the glory of the Party? In the Soviet Union, no one starves! Everyone is cared for by the State. If anyone attempts to tell you otherwise, they are lying American capitalist pig-dog liars! Do not listen to them!

true communism is an utopian kind of place...sadly it will never take place...too much power will corrupt the leader. humans are erm reedy by nature...they will undoubtly work harder when it benefited them.

Generally, the trend in Western society has been to give the average person more rights and equalities. In Britain, healthcare is largely free, which was achieved 50 years or so from when factory owners assumed that poor people were poor because they were lazy, not because society was against them ever earning more than a pittance.

In general, I'm optimistic about society improving the happiness of its inhabitants, possibly to the point where capitalism is outmoded as a system of allocating resources. Certainly it's not a system designed to be fair, and most countries acknowledge in their running that pure, unchecked capitalism would be a bad thing.

BTW Lenin drove a Rolls-Royce.

I'm a democratic socialist. My political ideology is largely based on Tommy Douglas with a dash of Jack Layton (both Canadian socialists). However, I'm strongly anti-gay rights and abortion. I agree that capitalism is bad. Cooperatives combined with government-run industry is the best way to make sure things are run well. Remember, capitalism created Paris Hilton.

Lenin wasn't a communist. I don't think he would even qualify as a socialist. Did he abolish money? Did he put ownership and management of the means of production in the hands of society? Did he distribute goods needed to survive based on need rather than wealth?
