from the LA Times:

President Bush took a spill during a Saturday afternoon bike ride on his ranch, suffering bruises and cuts that were visible later on his face just two days before he was to deliver a major prime-time speech on his Iraq policy.
The president was nearing the end of a 17-mile ride on his mountain bike, accompanied by a Secret Service agent, a military aide and his personal physician, Richard Tubb, who treated him at the scene, said White House spokesman Trent Duffy.

"It's been raining a lot and the topsoil is loose," Duffy said. "You know this president. He likes to go all-out. Suffice it to say he wasn't whistling show tunes."

rain in the past month: 4 inches

Well, he is old. You have to make allowances.

Besides, last summer, I was riding a mountain bike through some forested hills near Sheffield, and I hit a knot in a root, going over the handlebars. For a few minutes there, I abandoned my dreams of fatherhood.

These things happen.

im not making fun of him falling, im saying the topsoil's got to be pretty weak if it takes 0 inches of rain to make it loose

We need Old Tippecanoe Harrison back... He died so quickly didn't get a chance to screw up, therefore making him the greatest president of the US.

Every other president screwed up something....

Actually when I think about it Fillmore is a clsoe second.

well, i went to weather.com and typed in mcgregor, texas, which is about where the ranch is. i added up the rain for the week and at the botton it gave me the month to date precipitation, which was 3.97 in. i found a better site though:
for the week: http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/KPWG/2004/5/22/WeeklyHistory.html?FULLALMANAC=KACT

for the month:

here it says it rained twenty six inches, but most of that rain came in april. mia cupla.

do you ride? well 26 inches of rain will loosen the soil ALOT, so i doubt he lied...maybe it didnt rain last week, but in the woods it still impacts the trails. we should all just be glad he didnt fall off his bike and land on a cactis rear-end first.
