The futility of the Universe.

Just a thought...
Either the universe has a purpose or it doesn't. If it doesn't, then it is absurd. If it does have a purpose, then there are two possibilities: Either this purpose is eventually achieved, or it is never achieved. If it is never achieved, then the universe is futile. But if it is eventually achieved, then any further existence of the universe is pointless. So, no matter how you slice it, the universe is either a) absurd, b) futile, or c) eventually pointless.

perhaps it exists simply because it has to exist
perhaps it dosnt exist at all
So the Universe is futile, but you took the time to make a thread about it?

My thought has *some* significance to the interest of members of NationStates (as you can see from the replies.)

Well, it's certainly a change from all the politics on the forum over recent weeks.

What if after the current purpose has been achieved this will result in a new purpose being created? And what if after that new purpose has been achieved, this will result in yet another new purpose coming about as a consequence of that? What if the purpose of the Universe is a never ending evolving?
Has this possible scenario never crossed your mind or did you chose to ignore it?
BTW Why is something that has no specific purpose by definition absurd/futile/pointless? Projecting your own values here, are we?

No matter how you slice it, dice it, or quantum analyze it, any musings about the purpose of the universe ultimately point to it being all relative doesn't it? :D

yeah, maybe it doesn't exist and it's all in your mind.
Maybe we're all just being toyed with by 4th dimensional beings.

The purpose of existence is to exist. Nothing more.

Perhaps your mind is the only thing that exists. It's the only thing you can have proof of existing in and of itself (get me quoting solipsism), and don't you give me that 'maths exists' crap. Coz it doesn't.
