i see this as the next logical step in the ever more elitist actions of the NS forum moderators, then after the word games are banned, it will be the clubs and whatnot. it will be a sad day indeed when all that is allowed on the general forum is "political" topics :cry:

The truly sad thing is I think these recent actions and draconian enforcement of questionable rules is prompting otherwise respected and valued contributors to leave NS. It's just not fun for them anymore. Hopefully they'll be back, but it's a sad exchange to lose thier perspectives and posts for a highly dubious increase in server performance. :cry:

Come on guys, this is supposed to be a somewhat educational, politics related site, isn't it? If you want to play word games, go play good ones on some other site witht he other 14 year olds, and if you want to chat with people, start a chat room. Don't be so childish.

But exactly why, given the vast amout of pure crap that gets posted on this board in the guise of reasonable, intellectual, political debate, were the word games deemed to be the absolute evil? If it's about server issues, why are the "Is She Hot" threads with their huge amout of server clogging images still running rampant?

The images are not "server clogging" since they are all hosted off site.

This is the same argument tht's been going on in NS for ages - the roleplayers think that General is worthless and takes up valuable RPing bandwidth. To be honest, I have found General to be the only place worth socialising in the past. Nowadays? Meh, delete it if you must, make it less fun than it has been becoming over the last six months. If it happens, and I'm not saying that it will, it will kill the last remnant of what I played NS for.

Don't be so childish.says who? the actual "game" is not conducted in the forums but within the nations/regions; the rp is extra.
As it says at the top of EVERY page: "Because sometimes even national leaders want to just hang out." ie relax, socialise, have fun or yes, even discuss politics; with neither precluding the other.
As for being childish, I don't know many people who don't behave childishly when they are having fun - thats often part of what having fun entails.
I'm in my thirties and unless it's relevant I don't know or care what age the people I'm talking to are on NS; in real life I have friends aged between 15 and 50 all of whom I can have fun with in more or less the same way (no stupid innuendo to be inferred from that, so don't even go there)
The point is this: Different strokes for different folks; some people enjoy the RP for relaxation, some the political discussion, some the word games, and some the cafes,bars and dogpiles,etc. It matters not. What matters is tolerance.
The truth, and I defy any mod to convince me or many others like me that this is not true, is that more pressure could've been taken off the poor beleaguered server by chopping the last say, 500 pages (lets face it WHO searches all the way to page 700 to find a specific thread?) off the "general" forum the by the deletion of the whole of Forum 7

Hey! I'm in my 40s but i like to play word games.

I'm up for discussing various political stuff but late in the evening i just want to chill - and word games are fun and provide just the right amount of contact with others.
