Moore's Bush satire wins Cannes film prize

CANNES, FRANCE - American film maker Michael Moore on Saturday won the Cannes Film Festival's top prize for his controversial documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11".
It was the first documentary to win the Palme d'Or since Jacques Cousteau's 1956 film "The Silent World".
"Fahrenheit 9/11" is a scathing commentary on White House actions before and after the September 11 attacks.
Wow, another hit for Moore. It is too bad that Miramax won't release this movie. From what I understand it is going to be shown at the Toronto Film Festival.
The 29th Toronto International Film Festival runs from September 9 to 18, 2004.
I honestly can't wait to see this film.

I have a sneaking suspicion that what you have done here and the response from everyone at the festival, you will assure that the American people will see this film.
He might have a point.

No it dosen't, IIRC Republicans don't have 46% of the adult population registered under their party. Although some people in his party don't like Bush, just pointing at a 46% approval rating is not proof of it.

If you were right, it would be more effective. However, your statistics are old. The recent rating is 51%, which means some of YOUR party likes him. And at least none of the recent conservative candidates have been portrayed as insane by the liberal media... (YEAHHHH ring a bell?)

Sure it is.
It means that approximately 46% of americans approve of Bush.
It also means that 54% percent, do not approve of him, or the job he is doing.
This means that more people than there are Democrats, ae in that group.
Since third party people make up a small percentage..it can reasonable stand, that there are Republicans, who do not approve of Bushs performance.
No President incumbent with such a low rating, has ever won the election.

The film, shown to a lengthy standing ovation earlier this week does not have a distributor in the U.S.
The Walt Disney Company has refused to allow its subsidiary, Miramax, to release the film in the U-S because of its political content.
Miramax bosses Harvey and Bob Weinstein are working to buy back the film and find another distributor, possibly in time for a release on the Fourth of July.
The White House is said to be wanting to block the film until after the election.
Does anyone consider that "freedom of speech/expression" is being denied by such actions?

Moore deserves this Honor because the rightwing nazis in our media censor anything and everything even remotely critical of the most evil President to ever curse the White House

The media is only as liberal as the conservative corporations who own it. (my favorite bumper sticker slogan)
So what if Michael Moore is a little crazy? At least he's not screwing over millions of people because of some crazed need to get rid of "terrorists." And it's not like Mr. Moore is a political candidate. He's a liberal sharing his thoughts on why the world is so screwed up, and he shares his views in a much more straight-forward, accesible way than politicians do, so of course people are going to attack his extreme films and books. At least he isn't sitting back and keeping quiet while the "leader of the free world" makes a travesty of the nation.

Most of the American public accepted Bush's story about Iraq with WMD, and that somehow Iraq and 911 were linked. Where is the proof?
A jury consist of 4 americans, 1 french and 4 other people. They say giving award to him is not political decision and that he invented new genre.
