curfews
i know that there are people of all ages on these boards, so for those of you who are all grown up either put the discussion as what happened to you when you were younger or if you've got kids, what limitations you're giving them.
in any case, i'm curious about when most people's parents stopped giving them curfews. i'm 20 and when i come home, i have a curfew... the latest i've been officially allowed out is 1:30. well, there was one case where i was allowed out until 3, but that was a one time deal.

I'm 15 and I have a curfew. 9 o'clock on school nights and 10 o'clock on other days. I hate it, mine is earlier than all of my friends' curfews.

My parents have always been very lenient. No definitive curfew was ever given. They always simply trusted me to take reasonable and thus acceptable decisions for myself, and to assume responsibility for those same decisions. Only a few times when what appeared as reasonable to me turned out to be unreasonable to them. Other than that I've never had an objection coming from them. :)

Same as above - no curfew. There were certain evenings when I was expected home at a certain time due to guests, school work, or the like. On the other hand, I was expected to let the folks know when I would be home. If they thought it might be innappropriate, they let me know. But that was infrequently enough (on both sides) that it was very rarely a problem.
be reponisble and you will get a measure of freedom equal to it. ;D
well, my mom's reasoning for giving unreasonable curfews is that i didn't have a job or my driver's lisence and somehow that makes me irresponsable. because you know, irresponsable people do well in difficult courses in university... that's exactly it.
in any case, i got a job and soon i'm going to have my driver's lisence, so by her earlier logic, i should soon be able to keep whatever hours i please.

I "have a curfew," of ten O'clock but it'a never enforced. I live a good thirty miles from school, and it's about an hour out of either of my parent's way, ergo I need a car unless one of them wants to be more responsible than me and get up obscenely early.
Mother yells, screams, and curses no matter what, but she doesn't dig through my stuff and take all my cash (need it for gas) if I remember to call her and tell her I'm going to be in after six.
This is for eighteen as of today, and the same "rules" have been in place since I was sixteen.
Oh, and the "car/job" logic is "you don't need your own car to get to your job, and thus have no way of being out under your own power. Therefore, if you're out later than I want to stay up, you might be screwed on getting a ride back." I've always had a knack for understanding parental logic.

I've never had one because I never really used to go out when I was younger unless it was to a party or something in which case I would usually sleep over. Nowdays that I go out on the town and things, if I'm going to be home late (like 4am kind of thing) or I'm crashing somewhere else, my parents like me to send them a text so that they know I haven't fallen in a hole or something.

I stopped getting a curfew after I went to college, my mom figured she didn't know what i did there and I could handle it myself, so why did it matter when I came home?during high school I could stay out as late as the event needed, like if there was a movie I went to I had to come home within an hour or so of it ending. Usually I had to be home before she went to bed.

but i usually go to my bf's house. he lives a 10 min walk down the street. i usually walk home. if we go somewhere else, we bus or he calls a cab (he doesn't like the bus much) if i'm out with friends, usually one of them will drive or i'll call to spend the night.
my mom likes to say that it's a responsability issue.
i haven't moved out because i'm in university and home for the summer. i came home because my bf lives down the street rather than an hour and a half bus ride + another hour bus ride away.

i wish my parents used that reasoning. i'll regularly come home at 5 am when i'm at school and it's not like i'm walking aroudn by myself, i get someone to walk me home or i spend the night at their house where i'm nice and safe.

I never go out and I don't have a curfew. Which option should I choose?
i was going to include an option that said "curfew, what's that?" but it got cut off for some stupid reason.

I never really had a set curfew when I was younger. But the law did require that under 17 year olds were not allowed out past 11pm.

haha, where I live, that can be 4 pm in the winter.
I've never really had one, just whenever I can get a ride home, and now, whenever I feel like it.
