This is an amazing movie. It's hard to eat now after seeing it, I kind of want to vomit. Just look at the site. (http://www.supersizeme.com//)

This man ate only McDonalds for an entire month, and although his doctors thought only his cholesterol and a few other things in his body would change slightly, they discovered his had become extremely sick, on his way to kidney failure even. He also became addicted to the food, suffering from headaches whenever he was hungry, and was constantly depressed until he ate.

I'd stop eating fast food, but the special sauce for the Big Mac calls my name at night.

I stopped eating junkfood altogether about five months ago. Only because the thought of eating any made me literally nauseaous to the point of wanting to throw up, no shit. And prior to that I didn't even eat a lot of junkfood anyways.

On his third day or so, he ate just one meal, and started vomitting. This is a grown man, it really surprised me :?

Something that just crossed my mind: it wouldn't surprise me one bit if there is a strong correlation between how fucked up most Americans are and their consumption of junkfood. Point in fact it would explain a thing or two.

Mmmh, you think Republicans eat more junkfood than Liberals?...

Meh, I eat fast food on occasion, mostly Arbies or Burgerville (Which are boarderline, they have earned the title 'resturaunt'), but I love McDonalds fries, not much else, but their fries are really good (To me at least :P)

Meh, who can afford junk food? I'd much rather save my sheckles and spend it on a nice dinner out and possibly a movie than eat nameless meat product and fries that are usually so cold you can taste the chemicals in them.

I heard about this; McDonalds really has to shape up or close down IMO

The Big Mac is about the best thing at Mc'Donalds. :)
But there have been rumors about the meat. :?

Its a piece of propaganda. Id be far more interested if somebody conducted an actual scientific investigaion that turned out results like this.

People really need to stop with this propoganda thing...documentaries are all propaganda in one way or another. From deciding what subject to do to where you aim the camera to how you edit, the filmmakers have an agenda, it's why they made the damn documentary. Calling docs you disagree with or don't like or even feel is inaccurate or full of crap propaganda is just stupid and demonstrates a lack of understanding about the form.

Having said that, I lived on literally nothing but fast food for five years, and I certainly have the svelte body to show for it, but I haven't collapsed. I don't eat fast food anymore because I only eat at local places or at home. I wish I could say it was healthier now, but....

Look, burrito's are the best form of food in the world....

It's the bitchtocracy in motion. The only way anything is moved or changed, the only way anyones needs are addressed in this country is if we bitch long loud and hard. I get frustrated at people that try to quiet the bitching because it's the only way anything will get done. McDonalds doesn't have vested intrest in being healthy unless we make a big freakin' deal about wanting something healthy. In the end, McDs will profit, the demonization hardly ever sticks, but the change will. It's a populational (its a word now) equivilant of 'squeaky wheel gets the grease...'

I suppose he could have tried eating only fruit for a month, but I guess that would not sell so well - even though he'd have been just as ill.

I hate eating out at that place and most like it. I eat at home mostly and healthy restaurants. Anyway yeah the stuffs bad for you I don't think people needed the film to get it and I don't think government needs to help people either. I think people need to cut back/stop eating this junk and move more eat healthier etc. its common sense and control. The business has the right to exist and folks to eat it its not my business lame movie

This guy is nothing near Michael Moore, at least. I really wouldn't call it propaganda. While i agree with Moore's ideas, I have to say he can be a bit of an @sshole, but this guy was really sincere. His vegan girlfriend was the most hilarious part.

Sorry. That's the way I interpreted this topic. Judging by the name and the content of the first post. If you weren't making fun, then sorry.

You should look at the site. It's really gross when you discover what they put in the food. Im not exactly the healthiest eater, I live in Canada, pretty much the same shite as the states. At the end they showed how much sugar he had consumed, just in him having 3 soft drinks a day, and it was scary.

All i drink is soft drinks

I'll wait until the movie comes out in video stories; I'm tired of wasting money on stupid documentaries that highlight a problem already known, and ignored, by the vast majority of obese Americans.

I don't have any weight issues (other than the mental ones faced by most teenaged-young adult females) and I was terrified. It should be shown in schools. I sat there clutching my stomach and grimacing. I need to drink more juice.

i don't think the problem is the ingredients. Sure, they are probably nasty stuff...But so is haggis.

The problem is quantity... My friend went to the USA and couldn't finish any portions he ordered in restaurants. I was surprised to learn that the standard size for plates in restaurants there is bigger than in other countries.
It's not just the horrible shite in the food... That's not unique, pretty much everything has something nasty in it. Here in iceland one of our traditional dishes contains Ammonia...I know that can't be healthy in large dozes, yet we grow older than everyone else (except the japanese).
Everything is unhealthy in large dozes.
So in my opinion, the problem seems to be restraint.

America was the first nation in the world to grow an economy that could give its citizens any food they wanted, cheap and fast. It's easy to say that fat people have only themselves to blame but when you're surrounded 24/7 by fast food outlets and advertising dominating television, it may well require a lot of self discipline to resist for many people.
Europe was late in the game, though now catching up .
The evidence is all around us. Just stroll down an American street and count all the over-sized people and then do the same in most other countries. The difference is very noticable. I don't suppose the overwhelming power of big business would help much, but the US really needs.....needs to bring in the same sort of anti-guzzling campaign as it did with smoking. No bans or anything of that sort, just heavy-handed education.

I agree taht that is definately the best solution. Two of my friends are fat and they would get a lot less verbal abuse if they weren't. I, of course, will never stop getting verbal abuse, being a skinny Jewish kid.
