I think true Libertarians would disagree with you since they believe in as limited a government as possible with no interference on anything they believe to be their inherent rights to live free. I think Libertarians would tend to more associate themselves with conservative policies, but as I'm not a libertarian I can't be too sure.

I think thast is an over simplification. Liberals (neo or otherwise) regard the individual as the main object of concern or study. Libertarians believe that the individual is the ONLY valid object of interest. This often means that both camps will agree but certainly not in %100 of cases. Most liberals will agree for instance that women have particular rights associated with their gender. Libertarians will disagree as membership of a group can never generate any additional rights or obligations.

At any rate, neither neo-liberals or libertarians are worthy of respect so it doesnt really matter.

Well, here's how http://www.politicalcompass.org puts it:

So, I guess neoliberalism defines only the economics views.

Liberals would disagree. "Libertarianism" is just a type of Conservatism - just a more secular & socially-tolerant version.

Liberals believe in a strong, activist government helping ordinary citizens and smoothing-out the social side-effects of Capitalism - the opposite of what Libertarian-Conservatives believe.

Question: is it sometimes referred to as neoliberalism

Evidence: political compass (sort of) referred to it like that

Answer: yes, at least one source has referred to it as neoliberalism

He never asked if it was correct to do so, did he?

Another case of confusing Liberalism with liberalism. Liberalism has come to mean the left in the US, having travelled there over the last 200 years or so from its original meaning of economic free trade and market roots.
