It's almost as if Hastert wants McCain to get so fed up with his party that he jumps ship and joins the Democrats. I certainly wouldn't mind if McCain did--he's too conservative for me on some key issues, but the man has gravitas and honor. He's what the Republican party should be.

The Republican Party needs fewer gung-ho interventionists in position of influence, not more.
