It would be a shame to let the death of a drummer like Elvin Jones --- a drummer's drummer --- go by without paying tribute to him.
I first saw him when I was younger and several times afterwards. His fluid power and grace had to be heard and seen.
At 76, he died too soon.
Respect, dude.

I had the pleasure of watching the genuis play, one of the finest drummers ever. I'll be listening to Coltrane Quartet albums tonight and remembering the man.

Thanks for posting. I've been listening to my recordings since I heard.
I've never started a topic before, but when I realized that nobody else here seemed even to have noticed I couldn't bear it. A man who could do what he did deserves a proper farewell.
